Wild garlic but in Polish it's called bear's garlic - why? Legend has it that bears, right after waking from their winter hibernation, search for wild garlic. There is nothing surprising about this, as it is a very valuable and tasty plant. It is also a valuable medicinal herb.
Wild garlic was part of the diet of hunter-gatherer communities and has been found in Mesolithic settlements. It was consumed by the Celts and the ancient Romans. It was among the four different garlic species mentioned by Dioscorides, who described it as a plant with detoxifying properties. It was also a useful plant for the early medieval Slavs, as evidenced by its frequent discovery at their strongholds.
In folk medicine, it was believed to have the power to boost energy, stimulate the body, and strengthen immunity. In the past, people believed that the plant’s strong garlic scent could repel not only troublesome insects, but also evil spirits, demons, and vampires.
I decided to divide this photoshoot into two parts because I took a lot of photos, so the second part is comming soon (also made some videos there because how could I not?)
As always let me knwo which frame is your favourite!
