After some trial and error, here's the finished Macross image!
As always, layout by me and Maki, colour fixups and colour grading by Maki, final illustration by me. This print will be flying out to all of you in the Elite tier soon, so please make sure your addresses are correct so that yours doesn't go space folding off into the middle of a battlefield full of space vampires.
Working on this made me realise just how numerous and varied the designs for the Valkyries have been over the years in assorted Macross series. My absolute favourite is still the YF-21 from Macross Plus (1994) so I made sure it got a nice closeup along with Basara's VF-19 from my favourite show, Macross 7 (1995).
There are plenty of Valkyries from the very first Macross (1983) up until Macross littered throughout the image and, of course, nothing after Macross 7 matters anyway! Hohoho!

Oh, and Macross 2 is alternative universe non-canon so sadly no VF-2 in the picture! Which is a shame because it's an absolute beauty.
The Macross itself is the movie design (1984), as the TV series is a little too brightly coloured for my tastes and I guess Shoji Kawamori agreed because the movie version is what showed up whenever Macross appeared in later shows!
