Vercidium Audio Launch Announcement
The Vercidium Audio SDK is available for download at https://vercidium.com
From my initial tests with raytraced audio in Sector's Edge in 2021, to turning it into an actual product in early 2025 — it is now in your hands!
Vercidium Audio is the full suite:
muffling, reverb, ambience and accessibility
integrates with FMOD, Wwise and OpenAL
runs on every platform with no dependencies
SDK Contents
When downloading the SDK, you will receive:
C# SDK - production ready
JavaScript / WebAssembly SDK - production ready
C SDK - experimental
Plugins
The Godot plugin is experimental and available on GitHub at vaudio-godot-openal.
The Unreal Engine plugin is still in development - please see this previous post.
The Godot plugin uses the .NET SDK and requires the .NET Godot build. Another plugin will be created for standard Godot - please see our roadmap.
Pricing
Vercidium Audio can be used for free for non-commercial products. When shipping in a product that generates revenue, you must purchase a licence.
The full definition of non-commercial / commercial use is in the EULA.
Feedback
If you're having issues with the SDK, website or documentation, or would like to request a feature, please create an issue on the support repository.
SDK Improvements
The first publicly available version is v1.2.0, which features:
60% faster raytracing
Support for WebAssembly
Many optimisations, stability and edge case fixes
Many new settings to suit any kind of game environment
Cleaner API for updating materials and air absorption
The full changelog is available here.
Hotfix: v1.2.1 has been released to fix the debug rendering window (issue #21)
Security
The Windows DLLs are signed with Vercidium's code signing certificate. This should prevent "Unknown Publisher" warnings when you or your users first run your game. If you notice any issues with this, please let us know here.
Next Steps
Now that Vercidium Audio is live I can apply for access to Console SDKs, to ensure the C SDK runs on PlayStation, Xbox and Switch.
Polishing the C SDK, Godot plugin and Unreal plugins is my current focus. I'm also creating animations for a new YouTube video on raytraced audio, as everything in my last video on raytraced audio is now out of date!
Thank you to everyone who has helped along the way, from comments on YouTube to feedback from Sector's Edge players many years ago. Early beta testers, the community on Discord and friends and family who gave feedback on the website and demos. Thank you!
