Y'all, February was a mess. I spent the entire month either
Out of state (helping my wife stock up for her jewelry making business)
Sick (got the flu there that knocked me out for WEEKS)
Injured (too much bedrest and coughing, pinched nerve in hip)
As of today, I still have a cough but mostly feel like I'm an actual person again, so that's a good sign.
The good news, though, is that I actually got quite a bit done! I finished up five commissioned projects and started focusing back on personal projects. I attached a few songs here, but there are more on the drive. Unfortunately, not as many loops because I don't want to just give away other people's commissions :)
Neon Blue - Vaporwave Jazz track, the commissioned song was shorter, but I liked it so much I want to keep expanding on it. It feels like this song still needs a proper intro and middle, but it's getting there!
Nothing Short of a Miracle - Basically wrote a whole EP for this person's project. The chords and melody are pretty much the same across all the songs, but the instrumentation is different. These were a lot of fun to make.
Pocket Playground Gameplay - This is the first of several songs I'm working on for this project. This is for a mobile game that's designed for quick local multiplayer style games. Each match is timed so the song is broken into 30-second segments that can be shuffled around depending on how much time is left.
Tiny Crimes - I'm working on a collaboration with a friend in Famitracker! This is a very rough first draft I sent over to them to spice up. They sent me a handful of their Famitracker projects for me to fiddle with too. Looking forward to seeing where this project goes.
Where Did I Leave My Phone? - This is a track I made while sick. I had bits of this stuck in my head and I just needed to get it down. This track is weird, but I really love it. It bounces between odd scales and time signatures that feel disjointed but still really chill. Might end up in the next Cuddlecore album?
Winter Stream - Another commission track for someone's Twitch stream. The brief was to create different loops to suit various parts of their stream (intro, chatting, afk, gaming, outro). Through that, I was able to put together a really fun song!
Planned for March
Big focus is getting some momentum back and trying to get more dedicated studio time to make things. I have a lot on my list!
There are a few commissions I want to get to. Pocket Playground has another one I need to get to. Neon Blue has another small track to make. I have a buddy starting a new game development project that needs a track or two.
I'm also working on that Famitracker collaboration I mentioned above. I'm very rusty with Famitracker, but it's been fun to work with again.
Big project is getting back to Quiet Spaces, Vol 5! I have a few songs sketched out, but I really need to invest some time into the album. It's slowly coming together, but I definitely want to get this ready by late April so I need to spend more time on it.
I also started poking at game development again! While I was sick I had the idea for a small game where you had to manage your body temperature by adding and removing blankets to part of your body. It is very small scope so I think it's a much better introduction to learning Godot than the big project I was working on before. Will be working on it more this month.
Thanks!
As always, thanks for your support. It's been a rough month, but I'm super happy with how things came together. Looking forward to the warmer weather and making more cool things 💖
Have a great month! I'm off to donate for cats.
