First of all, thanks for everyone and their patience while I take a break. All the kind words saying it's OK to rest have been very good to hear.

Before taking a break though, last week I participated in the Brackeys Game Jam and I made a game! It's called Cookie Flicker and you can play it right here: https://tallbeard.itch.io/cookie-flicker

It reminded me how much I like making games. I want to do more of them. I have lots of ideas that I'd like to explore, but have a bad habit of over-scoping things. Once they get too complicated, the Jenga tower falls and I don't know how to keep working on them.

It's a problem with organization and planning more than anything else. Much like writing a song or doing any other creative work. The only way to get better at finishing something is to actually finish things.

I want to work on Fever Break! again and get that game done and on itch. I think Cookie Flicker has enough mainstream appeal to be a simple Steam release. Just gotta finish things.

Various music things from this month:

Pinkies Up for Crime - This was a song written earlier in the month. I like the idea, but it feels a bit bland? It was at this point I realized that I need a break from writing music.

Cookie Flicker OST - I created a pretty simple Menu and Gameplay loop for the game. Nothing fancy, but it's still fun :)

Pocket Playground OST Zone King - This is a fun track, though I haven't heard whether this is what the client wants so it might change drastically whenever the game comes out, we'll see!

In other news, I'm still plugging away on the book. I think I'm around halfway done? I'm sure there will be a lot of editing once the writing is done, but I'm happy with the progress.

I have 24 chapters planned, each of them around 400-500 words. I like short chapters that get to the point and don't spin in circles on the same topic.

Here's a temporary link to one of the chapters if you wanted to check it out: https://abstractionmusic.com/PatreonMusic/Combat_Empty_Canvas_Syndrome.pdf

Plans for September

Going to try to chill out a bit. Though I clearly have plenty of things to do if I get bored :) I also promised a friend I'd program a game for the Falling Blocks Jam starting next week. He's doing the art though, so I get to just make code. Way easier.

I'm still going to go donate some bucks for kitties. They deserve it. Take care friends <3
