This week's (bonus) song: Me and Who?

DESCRIPTION

Well the main week's song isn't released yet, but who says you can't have your dessert before dinner?

I've been working on my Cuddlecore album Cozy the past few months as a spiritual successor to Hey. It's getting pretty close to release, which is good because I want this out by December.

It's currently sitting at 7 songs and around 20 minutes of playtime. It will be a really nice album to cap out the year.

Lovely artwork by my friend Amy.

This song was also an attempt at doing a future stream format once the Two Hour Track Challenge goes away. I work to break down a song into data points (tempo, mood, sound design, hooks, arrangement, chords, etc) and then use those data points to rebuild a completely new song in my own style. It's not exactly a remix, but a springboard for inspiration.

The working title for this is Simulacrum which, depending on your definition, basically means "a poor imitation of the real thing". I find that funny. I've attached the PDF of the rough breakdown of the original song if you were curious what I was working with.

I don't think I'll be doing the song breakdowns on stream, mostly for copyright reasons. But I learned a TON taking apart the source song and then rebuilding it using the details I defined. Plus, it was the first time I wrote a song in the major scale in a long time, so that's something to be proud of too.

Eventually, once I get 20 or 30 of these, it would be fun to release it as an inspiration book. But I'm getting ahead of myself there.

I'll get into more detail on the streaming stuff soon, but I wanted to share this success I had with the transition in trying this new process. All the best!
