Hi Adepts! This week's map is the Jungle Altar (35x30), and your variant of it includes an altar on top of it, I hope you don't mind if it's a bit pre-bloodied. Sorry about that, but I guess feel free to fight the perpetrator if that's a problem for you.
A surprisingly by-the-books sketch, I think! Not much changed here, structurally at least, just a few bonus trees here and there plus all the little details I added in later. The idea with this one was a big ol' altar-like structure in a swampier part of the jungle, featuring more standing water and swampier colors, nothing fancy but it's a vibe I think that will find plenty of use in jungle adventures.
As far as outlines are concerned, there was fairly little that needed to be drawn 100% new for this map, I was able to reuse and recycle quite a few props from previous ruins maps. The structure itself I wanted to draw entirely new though, as I had some things I wanted to get just so. Particularly I wanted to make the walls a bit thicker than usual to give the impression of a sturdy old ruin. I just bored myself as I thought about how to describe the way I've been drawing the tiled floors differently, so how about I don't. :)
Swampier colors for this map, I think. The other jungle maps weren't feeling jungle-y enough for me also so I figured I ought to mess around and try something different. That said, my main reason for the new colors was that they felt right for this map in particular. The big crumbling altar with evil vibes wouldn't have felt quite right in a sunny glade, so here we are.
