Hi Adepts! This is the Jungle Shack (20x15), and I made you a bonus variant for it! In addition to the Wrecked version, which is full of rubble and spider webs instead of the normal cozy cabin stuff, I made a Hazy version, which is nice on the inside but unpleasantly grayscale on the outside. If your party finds themselves in dire straits while traveling through the jungle maybe they'll pick out a hint of firelight glowing underneath the cabin door and come looking for sanctuary. With lighting like this I wouldn't be surprised if there were zombies about, so maybe they won't quite appreciate the company..

A simple layout for a simple cabin- I like cabins to be a single room, maybe with dividing curtains for the bed if I feel like it. Bedrooms are a bit fancy for the cabin I wanted to depict here. The small structure I sketched outside was going to be for tanning hides but I didn't much like it so it didn't make it past this stage. Also I didn't like how it crowded the frame, so doubly gone.

Outlines! I had this thought about making the floor of the cabin feel a bit more rustic by overlaying some perpendicular boards, like that side of the cabin had gotten destroyed or damaged and they roughly patched it up. It makes the room feel a lot more interesting, I think!

On the outside, I largely used the plants, roots, and rocks I've drawn over the last couple months. I decided to try something different with the grass, I tried to draw it a bit more jagged and bushy, though right now I don't think it looks much different. I probably could have gone a lot harder on that to get the desired result- scraggly looking grass. Oh well, another time.

Another week, another fresh attempt at painting a jungle scene. This time I started with one of the palettes from 2 months ago, the Jungle Trail I think. I tried to push the colors a little harder though, darkening the ground and giving a little more vibrancy so it would pop harder against the grass. Similarly I made the rocks a light grayish tint so they'd stand out against the grass and ground, which I think was the right move. The building itself I tried not to overthink, we've got woody colors, some stone here and t here, and a bit of moss/grime as well to make it feel properly jungle-y. I think I'm a little uncertain about the ground color but it isn't the worst, at least it stands out nicely. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Thankfully I plan on to a different environment after this map, so I won't have to keep iterating endlessly on this palette. Yay! Now to iterate endlessly on something completely different. Or maybe not completely different? We'll see.
