Things had begun moving quickly after that. Azazel and Odin both moved with an urgency in their steps as they took him to the lower levels. He was tense, and he very much had the right to be, but what was he to do?
Not follow a direct order from the All-Father who could likely pop this pocket dimension with a thought, forever stranding him in the Dimensional Gap? Though he wouldn’t mind seeing exactly what he could read of the Dimension Gap. What concepts made it the destructive space it was? Why was the Great Red the only being capable of traversing it, aside from being absurdly powerful? Or why was it Ophis’ home? And more. He knew the common sense answers, but he would love to know more.
Alas, now was not the time for that, he lamented as he followed Odin into a private room. As the doors opened, he saw a very pristine looking office, which made him think that this was likely not Odin’s office, as he saw no sign of any gold, real or plated, which just seemed wrong when thought of in conjunction with Odin.
Odin sat on the other end of the table, his bottle nowhere to be seen, and his entire demeanour speaking seriousness, as Azazel sat right next to him, looking quite a bit worried about the whole thing, “Speak.”
He instinctively straightened at the voice, cycling his Demonic Energy in his body, instantly sobering up, and then he was hit with a freight train’s worth of regret, as he barely resisted the urge to slump and groan out loud. It was likely useless as Odin saw everything with his one eye.
Azazel was the first to speak, words rushing out of his mouth as he seemed in a hurry to absolve himself of any blame that could be placed on him. Hmm. He seemed genuinely worried and afraid. Was he that scared of Odin? Ofcourse, he was. The Old Man might just be one of the few that could defeat Azazel instantly, even if Azazel was in his artificial Sacred Gear Balance Breaker form.
“I had reports about a strong Devil roaming around Europe for weeks, with seemingly no destination. No human interaction. No supernatural interaction. No sign of him casting any magic beyond the norm. Just a strong Devil roaming around Europe, eating everything in sight, as if he was on a sightseeing tour. I approached him, and then realised who he was. He didn’t seem too bad, and I thought I could use this to gather more information."
Odin growled, and the voice seemed to shake the entire office; his first instinct of lashing out barely restrained as sitting within striking distance of an irate Odin had all his alarm bells ringing, “and you thought to bring him here for that?! I told you, Azazel, no more politics here.”
No more? So, Azazel had done something like this before? Lol. For some reason, seeing Azazel flustered and struggling to make his case was really funny. He instantly locked in and tried to check if he was still under the influence of the rather strong alcohol, but found none. Maybe some lingering aftereffect? After all, there should have been no reason he found Azazel’s suffering funny, especially since he was likely next in line.
“I-I just thought it would be funny! And prove to him that I was not going to ambush him. I mean, if I could get Thor to ambush a Devil, I would have killed someone far more important than him.”
He found himself nodding at that. That fact alone had both alarmed and relieved him greatly. There was simply no way Thor of all people would agree to an ambush, especially not if the target was a Devil who didn’t have the Satan designation. He’d been alarmed because all of this was a complete unknown to him, and that fact hit him harder than he’d expected. It forced him to face the fact that he’d simply been too isolated from the rest of the world.
It made him realise that no matter how strong he grew, even if he wanted to just turtle up in a safe place and work on his garden, reality necessitated that he had to not just interact with the rest of the world but actively participate in it.
After all, how else could he have known about such a place existing? His original goal of finding Mephisto seemed so trivial in comparison. After all, the chances of Mephisto not just giving up the location of Georg, but doing so without asking for something significant in return were all but minuscule. He was also far more likely to take advantage of the piece of information that was the Bael Heir looking for a Sacred Gaer. There was also the angle of him simply refusing to give the location of the wielder of a Longinus Tier Sacred Gear to a Pillar Devil heir. After all, the next step was obvious, and if the man himself hadn’t reincarnated Georg, then there must be a reason.
Either way, he was in the current situation now, so might as well make the most of it.
“As for you,” Odin then turned to him, after having sufficiently torn into Azazel for bringing yet another devil headache, which made him all the more curiouser, “What are you?”
He blinked, confused, “I’m sorry?”
“Your power. It’s mutated, I assume?”
He nodded slowly, his eyes purposefully glancing at Azazel, whose eyes tightened at the glance, “Yes.”
Odin sighed and muttered under his breath, "Honestly, what is that sissy up in Heaven doing?”
He then seemed to have come to a decision, “Fine. Atleast your balls have dropped.”
His brows creased in confusion at the statement, as Odin waved his hand, a surge of magic around them indicating the appearance of a card?
Azazel choked beside him as the Gold plated card floated towards him as he accepted it gingerly, “There. That is your most basic membership to the Oppai Club’s Main branch.”
“Main branch?” he mouthed the words, turning the card over to see what was so special about it, only to find it to be a mass of magic. Before he could ask about the card, the solid thing dissolved into what was pure magic. The magic enveloped him completely, and then receded before he could blast it apart with his magic.
Then, he felt it. A link to this place?
“You understand, then?” Odin prompted as he nodded, slowly understanding just what that card was. It was a way for the protections here to take a sample of his magical signature, and at the same time, give him a way to enter this pocket dimension.
“So, Devil brat, why were you moving around Europe?” Odin asked after he had given him a moment to understand just what was given to him. It was not difficult to understand what the card represented. An in with the Norse, at least those that appeared inside the Club, and that included Thor of all people.
But aside from the Norse, this was likely the biggest peaceful gathering of cross faction members. Even if Odin had some sort of rule about no politics here, he couldn’t stop people from talking to each other peacefully and then making deals outside this place. That was the most important part anyway.
A way to talk to enemies without the possibility of violence lingering in the background, which made everyone do reckless things.
He hesitated telling the God about the true reason why he was here. It was silly, but something inside resisted the thought of talking about his most prized thing to two people he hadn’t even met a few hours ago.
Azazel then chose this moment to pipe in, “He wants my notes on Botany.”
Odin gave Azazel a look before focusing back on him with an amused look on his face, “A Devil who knows about that field alone is a surprise.”
“Yeah,” Azazel piped up once again, “Rumor has it that he has his own garden back in the Bael territory, under wards. No one is allowed to approach that garden, but him. It is quite special.”
He mechanically turned to the man, all but glaring at the man, not surprised in the slightest that the man knew about it. He expected the information to leak soon enough. After all, it was not like he could stop that information from flowing out.
Odin smirked at that before his face slowly set in what he assumed was a serious glare, “I ask again, Devil brat, why are you here? I quite like the peace, fragile as it might be. If you,” He then turned to Azazel and glared at him, “--either of you do something that threatens this peace, and try to ruin my fun, I will have choice words for you. So, think carefully before answering.”
