–Magdaran Bael–

“Say,” Azazel said in the middle of his very loud slurps, “I have recently come across a Devil whose situation is not too unfamiliar to yours. Very well hidden. Very oddball. High Potential. Powerful for their age. Very mistrusting of everyone. Capable of causing high level diplomatic incidents. Ticks all boxes. Care to meet them?

He stilled for a moment, his thoughts immediately whirling as he realised just what Azazel was asking here. The question remained, though. Why? Why was Odin being so generous to him? Why was Azazel being so forthcoming with him? Essentially exposing the existence of someone who could either upend the balance in the Underworld if given time to grow or finally force Rizevim into action, a prospect that no one in the Three Factions wanted. He was sure that even Michael would much rather prefer dealing with the New Satans than deal with someone as mad as Rizevim.

He hadn’t met the man, but from little he knew from his metaknowledge and the hushed whispers in the Underworld about the seat of Lucifer being empty, and active, which signified that the line was still ongoing, was enough to paint a pretty grim picture. No wonder the New Satans were so high strung all the time.

A Super Devil Lucifer.

The Son of Lucifer, no less. He probably had the highest claim out of anyone as the Lord of all Devils. It would certainly destroy any semblance of stability the race currently enjoyed if Rizevim came out of hiding and decided he needed to retake control of the race his Father created.

Vali’s existence might just be the match that lit up the entire Underworld on fire, though it didn't happen for some reason in the canon timeline. He couldn’t take that for gospel, though. Things would and had gone wrong, and he had to be prepared for that.

Part of that preparation was keeping his cards close to his chest and letting his healthy amount of paranoia do the decision making. Just loosening the bounds on himself, played by his paranoia, had led to him becoming a member of Odin’s exclusive club.

It was to be seen whether it was a good thing or not. Either way, he was not about to go along with whatever plan Azazel had cooked here. He was here to safeguard his Garden, not meet the latest Lucifer with a Longinus.

Shaking his head, he declined the offer, “No, thanks. I have my Garden to tend to. You have my thanks for the books. I’ll arrange the payment soon.”

Azazel, though visibly disappointed, waved him off, “Nah, no need for that. It’s just books, anyway.”

He gave the Fallen a look before shrugging and walking out of the booth, the loud sounds of the rest of the booth hitting him immediately, as he took a deep breath, restrained himself from trying to take a closer look at the bottomless pit of energy that was Thor, before walking briskly to the exit.

He couldn’t teleport directly from inside the club. He had to go through the exit, which took him to another pocket dimension, and then he could teleport. On his way to the exit, he once again saw many supernatural species, both as employees and patrons in this place.

He had to physically restrain himself from approaching a Light Elf who was sitting and sipping on a light mug. As in, the mug itself seemed to be made of light. The closest species he had met that had a Life alignment, to the point that just being in their vicinity, the Light Elves could accelerate Life in all manner, be it plant life or otherwise.

There were theories in the Underworld that if they had a sizable number of Light Elves near a couple who were trying for a baby, the chances of conceiving could shoot up exponentially, partially solving the problem of there being very few Pillar Devils compared to Reincarnated Devils added each year to the population of the Underworld.

Ofcourse, no one was stupid enough to try and invade the realm of the Light Elves, especially since they had Asgard on speed dial and neither Odin nor Thor were beyond pasting any intruders, irrespective of their origin. Hell, they could probably take on Rizevim and kill him decisively as well, which was not something he could say about all Gods.

Runes were really OP. Too bad he just didn’t have the aptitude for that, and he was not about to hang himself for nine days and nine nights, without knowing what the end result might be. Numerous others had tried the same ever since the story became public. After all, who wouldn’t want the phenomenal powers that Odin had in exchange for some suffering? Only for all of them to either fail or die, depending on their own power and race. There was something that was missing in the public story, which made sense, since why would Odin let that become public information?

He stood in place, ignoring the looks the Light Elf was giving him, taking in a deep breath, and continued his walk to the exit. He could come back here anytime. No need to do everything in one night. Plus, while meeting a Light Elf and actually working with them on his Garden was the Dream, it did not solve the problem he was facing at the moment. Namely, moving his Garden.

Thankfully, he had a lead now. A slow and steady one, but one that could work, provided he played his cards right and did not make the same mistake of trusting just anyone that he made today.

Shaking his head, he pushed the door open and was surprised to find an empty white place instead of the lobby that was there when they entered. Shaking his head, he spread his senses, to check if anything was out of order. Finding nothing wrong, he teleported and appeared in the same place as his entry point.

A random sidewalk that was still being ignored by the humans, who had to walk onto the road to pass the warded area, or just turn around and cross the road. He wondered if any of them were caught jaywalking.

Shaking his head, he teleported out of the country, back to the Underworld, with a rare happy feeling in his chest, as the impossible had just happened. Despite interacting with multiple people whom he couldn’t blow off or push away, he didn’t feel like his soul was being drained.

Time to see what convoluted documentation and reasoning he had cooked up to create a new mother for him overnight.

–Azazel–

He watched as the Bael left, and only when he exited the club did he turn around and look at Odin, who was sitting opposite him, in the same booth as before, looking deep in thought.

There was silence in the booth for a moment, as he finished his drink, and then he voiced his confusion. The confusion that he had been feeling since Odin barged into his meeting. It was certainly not like the Norse God to do something like that, and especially not talk to a Devil, even if he was strong or had a special identity. Odin was never one to care about something like that. The Norse were isolationist for a reason.

“So, what happened?”

“The boy. His soul.” Odin grunted after a while, still likely in deep thought, “It’s different. His soul doesn’t match the age of his body.”

“Reincarnation?” He once again asked, confused. After all, even if the boy was a reincarnated Devil, which was special since it hadn’t happened before this, Odin wouldn’t have taken such a special interest in him.

“No, not regular reincarnation. This is something different. I thought I was mistaken, but then the boy used his powers…”

Ah, yes. His powers. The Power of Destruction on steroids. Somehow, the boy had managed to reach the domain that was until now reserved for The God of Destruction of the Hindu Pantheon, Shiva. Sure, the oomph was nowhere near comparable, and he likely wouldn’t be able to outright destroy entire concepts on a universal level if he wanted to, but the fact that a Devil brat was capable of even dream of approaching that level was something alright.

There were theories floating around that Sirzechs, in his True Form, would be able to do something similar, even if for a much smaller area and only temporarily, but those were just rumours, likely spread by the Underworld itself to hype up the strength of their biggest gun.

But this? Yeah, he could definitely see that gaining Odin’s attention. Even his first thought when he realised what it was was to figure out a way to get the boy killed. He wouldn’t dirty his hands for that. There was no need for that when there were many others who would happily kill the Devil, who could one day grow up to be stronger than the two freaks that already propped up the entire Devil faction. After all, he might be Ultimate Class, but hundreds of Ultimate Class Devils had died during the War, to much weaker foes. It’s like humans say.

Quantity had a Quality on its own.

Then, Odin had come forward and poured cold water all over his plans that his mind came up with whenever he was faced with a threat he couldn’t let grow or use for his own gain.

“So, you are protecting him?” He bit out, with a little more heat than necessary. After all, the brat might not know what that card signified, but to him? A DD-tier member of the Oppai Club, a badge he wore with pride, that card might as well be a giant CEASE AND DESIST warning sign.
