Poll: Beta Versions for 2024 MPMB?

DESCRIPTION

Although I made some good process in March, April had other plans. Just after the 2-week long school holiday, my partner’s father unexpectedly passed away. Thus, priorities shifted from working on the 2024 sheet to helping family abroad. I don’t want this update to be about that, but it is important to mention as I have little progress to showcase, unless you are overly joyful about the 2024 spells being transcribed.

For this poll I'd like to know if you would be interested in a beta (i.e. incomplete/untested) version of the MPMB sheets for D&D 2024.

The System Reference Document for D&D 2024 is out (SRD v5.2) and that is great news for creators like me, because I can finally legally release a character sheet with all the 2024 rules. The only problem is that the sheet isn’t that far along yet. I’m currently in the process of adding all page references to the SRD v5.2 and continuing with transcribing the spells. What’s next depends on this poll.

The setup for the 2024 rules will be the same as for the 2014 rules. The sheet will have all the SRD content built-in, while everything else will be handled by add-on scripts. For example, all the content in the Player’s Handbook that is not in the SRD will be added through an add-on script. Legacy content will also have to be added through add-on scripts, even the 2014 SRD content.

This approach differs from the fan-made 2024 add-on script and has the unfortunate side-effect that it makes it harder for me to use that add-on script as a time-saving “first draft”.

This brings me to the reason for this poll. I am not done transcribing the 2024 rules, but I could quickly release an unfinished beta version so that fans like you can:

Help transcribe remaining content using the (slightly) updated syntax

Help find transcription mistakes (typo’s etc.)

Test the new features to help pin-point bugs

Give feedback on how certain new 2024-only features are implemented (e.g. weapon masteries)

Releasing beta versions takes time away from other things I could be doing (like transcribing the 2024 magic items), so I’ll only build these with enough interest.

IMPORTANT: These beta sheets will not (yet) allow you to create full 2024 characters, as I haven’t touched on things like classes. Don’t vote for betas thinking it will get you to use MPMB for 2024 D&D in a week.

I will post more polls in the coming days/weeks about the new 2024 sheet. The next poll will be about how to handle legacy content.

Legacy content refers to all the 2014 player options that were published before the 2024 PHB. This includes both the stuff that hasn’t been updated to 2024 rules (e.g. you want to use the School of Necromancy wizard subclass from the 2014 PHB or play as a Half-Elf), as well as the stuff that has gotten an update, but you want to use anyway (e.g. you want to use the 2014 rules for the Mountain Dwarf or the 2014 Cleric class).
