Full Lost Lands 2026 lineup drops
The full lineup for the 9th edition of Excision's world-renowned Lost Lands festival was revealed last week. Amongst the biggest names to be playing at Legend Valley this September are the likes of Subtronics, Zomboy, Virtual Riot and Eptic, whilst the main B2B of this year's event will be between Excision himself and the Mix King™ Space Laces. Other big names include artists such as Wooli, Ray Volpe, Taiki Nulight and LYNY, whilst the biggest omission for 2026 is probably Svdden Death - to the dismay of a fair few people (pictured below). Notable performers making up the smaller-print, lower part of the festival include Dodge & Fuski, Leotrix, IMANU, Badklaat, TYNAN, Au5 and Modal Nodes.
As many of you will have seen by now, I made a full video on the lineup for you wonderful patrons, so if you want some more extensive thoughts on the general roster, do check out that vid. As someone who's been the last 4 years in a row, my feelings are of slight disappointment regarding the lack of variety and spice considering who's played the festival recently. That being said, it wasn't looking likely that I'd be able to go anyway, so it feels like the right time to take a year off as things stand. Moreover, for anyone that hasn't been to Lost Lands before - or in the last few years - there are still more than enough huge names on show to make this an absolute Bass bonanza for said attendees. The names may be similar, but those names still provide a lot of good.

REZZ updates on her health again
Just weeks after cancelling her 2nd Coachella performance to focus on her health, REZZ announced that she'll be going on an 'indefinite hiatus' to continue on that path of recovery. In a post shared across social media, she wrote 'The past few months my body forced me to stop ... I've tried to push the last few shows but it's clear that touring and the stress that accompanies it makes my conditions far worse'. She ended by alluding to the idea that she'll still be releasing music whilst having time away from touring, before saying 'For now I have chosen the necessary path of healing. To everyone who's reached out thank u'. Unsurprisingly, everybody responding in the comments section was very supportive of her decision to step away from shows and performing.
I think it's great that REZZ has taken this step, for her own wellbeing of course, but also as someone providing an example for others. She's a huge artist in this scene, and if her being public about this helps someone else listen to their own body to take needed time out for themselves, then it's an extremely valuable thing to have posted. This could well be the exact thing someone needed to read. It's a definite shame for those who'd hoped to see her live at some point later this year, but I'm sure those shows will happen later - future opportunities to see her will be there in 2027 and beyond. There's the glitz and glamour of being a touring DJ, but they are humans too at the end of the day, and I'm hoping this break provides exactly what she needs to come back stronger in the new year.
T-Pain announces Teddy Pain
It's official - T-Pain's name as a Bass artist / musician will be Teddy Pain. I must admit, I'd been wondering for a while whether he'd keep his original, more renowned moniker for his heavy electronic venture, but it seems this new name is what's definitively going down for the Nappy Boy himself. Accompanying the announcement was a brief, flashy trailer that shows the Rap / RnB legend striking a selection of poses in front of a hot pink background as a holy-sounding vocal - potentially from a new track of his - creeps in from below.

So then, it's official: T-Pain is a part of the Bass / Dubstep artist circuit! Seeing him at Lost Lands last year was very surreal, and whilst it was far from the best set I'd ever heard, his energy for the music was incredibly infectious, and left me genuinely curious as to what his next steps in the scene would be. And now, here we are.

Eptic drops latest single
This release made me realise that any new Eptic material is always something to be seriously celebrated. I saw the announcement and was instantly elated, what can I say? 'HARDKNOCK' is a self-release, and interestingly isn't on all streaming platforms as things stand. I imagine this is because of a sample that can't be cleared. Cleverly though, he made sure people got to the tune through Instagram by sending the track out to people's DMs if they commented under the announcement post with the track's title (pictured below). The cut is also available to stream on Soundcloud. I've yet to hear the track, and will likely be waiting until the next Twitch stream to check it out, post-Yearly Favourites 2025 videos.

Joyryde's cryptic Instagram post
Well well well, what's this then? With rumours intensifying in recent months about Joyryde's second album dropping, the Bass House producer himself has given arguably the biggest hint towards it yet with this Instagram story post that looks like minimum 16 tracks with the same artwork. Does that sound like new album to you? It sure does to me. With the screenshot - that had all the track titles scribbled out - Joyryde wrote 'Don't make your journey a message for someone else. Make it for you'. Whatever it is we're gonna be getting from him, it's sure to come from the heart, and potentially even more so than his debut album BRAVE - which would be saying something as you all know!
When you type 'Joyryde second album' into search, many sites are mentioning that the rumoured title of said project is THE WEIGHT IS LIFTED, with features from the likes of Skrillex, Knock2 and Flowdan, all of which we already knew about. I suppose we will have to wait and see on those details, but it definitely seems to be building up a head of steam as the weeks go by. Whatever it turns out to be, I can't wait to hear it in full!
MPH drops 'Crescendolls' edit
This is so, so good. Around a month ago, UKG man of the moment MPH teased an edit of Daft Punk's legendary track 'Crescendolls' that he played out in Japan. Fred again.. and Thomas Bangalter also played it at their London show not too long ago, as seen below. Now the edit is with us in all its full glory. It's especially good if you're familiar with the original, but even without knowing that tune it sounds fantastic. The manipulation of the main riff in the builds, the flow of the drops, the production value across the track. It's simply top drawer, and knowing MPH has 'LOADS MORE TO COME' (Instagram post caption) only brings an immense smile to my face. He's one of the best in the Bass scene at the moment, there's no doubting that.

Debut Lizdek album
More huge album news from the Bass music underground! Following Akeos' announcement of her debut LP last week, we got the exact same the week just gone from none other than Serbian whizkid Lizdek. This guy has easily been one of my favourite producers of the last few years, and knowing that he's now in a position to drop his first full-length album after all the previous success fills me with a lot of joy. The collection will be called DUALITY, and luckily we wont have to wait too long for it, with the project having a June 19th release date - just one day over a month from now. Though we do not know how many tracks will be on DUALITY yet, we also got the artwork with the announcement post (below) which I think you'll agree looks like the perfectly gnarly accompaniment to his invigorating production style.
Are you guys looking forward to Lizdek's debut album as much as I am? I hope so!
Big Bass releases of the week
Along with the Eptic and MPH tracks, there was a new album's worth of material from Jane Remover's alter-ego leroy alias, exclusive to Soundcloud. There was also the potentially final multi-track release from Ivy Lab, a new EP from the duo titled 'Point Five'. In terms of singles, I'd look toward the new Vorso track 'IV', as well as the second track in the Disciple Records resurrection from KILLMATTER, 'HELLDUST88'. Oh, and the new Nikita, The Wiked tune for Apashe's Majestic Collective label, check that too. Happy listening! 💙

The best Single / Original of 2025
Before I hear you all cry "Connor's the best single of 2025!" please do cast your minds back to last year and give me your Top 5s, 3s or even 1 when it comes to the very best Bass tunes of 2025. With the Yearly Favourites videos very nearly getting underway, I want to get the discussion going beforehand to build some momentum leading up to the series, and get a good idea of what you wonderful patrons were absolutely loving last year. And WHY you love them, importantly. Below is a teaser screenshot of a few tracks that MIGHT be in my main Top 50 list. I say might as it could be the Honourable Mentions they're in - or neither! At the very least, they're in my 'Top Bass Singles of 2025' playlist,which I'll be sharing with you all once all the videos are up.
But yes, please do come through in the comments with your favourite Bass tracks of last year guys! I look forward to seeing which tracks you put - there may even be some I've forgotten about and need to listen to again. YFW is nearly with us!

Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites before it was released
This is such a pure, beautiful watch. Footage like this is where it's interesting to see how a track's changed, with the final version having been out for so long already, and everyone used to its greatness. Luckily, Skrillex blew up out of nowhere to the extent that people didn't really have an original ID to get overly familiar with. No complaining that the vocal samples are different, just appreciation for how a legendary track was altered slightly. Great watch!

Oddprophet's AI / Suno rant
This is brilliant from Oddprophet. Generally speaking, I'm not down for people being publicly shamed in this way, but when it comes to something as serious as AI getting more of a stranglehold in the Bass scene, it needs firmly putting in its place. There'll be people in the community that aren't taking it as seriously, and will then watch that video and have a better understanding of the gravity of the situation. Encourage AI generation in music and you will, without doubt, not be welcomed by a significant proportion of the community.

Weird Bass merch pt. 2
To go with the REZZ figurine that I reported on recently, I have to ask again - does anybody genuinely have any idea why this is a thing? Who thought of this? What's the point of it? How much do Zeds Dead need money? So many questions, no answers.
