Unstoppa-BILL is more like it! We have a nearby canal where a lot of ducks hang out. One of these ducks has been named Horace by my girlfriend and her work pals who visit the ducks on their lunch break. Recently, one of our friends discovered that Horace had been shot through the beak with a crossbow. That’s messed up enough as it is, but this isn’t in the deep woods. It’s a fairly residential part of town. They’re building condos there, for crying out loud. (Not that our city needs any more condos, but that’s another story.) Horace is okay, the proper animal services were called, the bolt was removed, and it didn’t puncture any vital head parts. He’s back in the canal with all his buddies. This actually got some local news attention, and our friends who called it in made sure that the reporter included his name.
I whipped up this portrait of Horace for our friend who found him swimming around seemingly unbothered by a foreign object through his beak.
Screw whoever did this, honestly. Horace is a friendly duck, he wouldn’t hurt anybody unless it was a pile of oats.
