The year is nearly over but not quite yet! We have one more release before we go into 2026! Despite some setbacks in december thanks to covid, holidays and whatnot, the update is packed full with new stuff. As a word of warning: Compared to the last update this one doesn't have a lot of new proposals. The reason being that last month, that was a big focus, while this month, the focus was more on building foundations so you have things to do past day 40+.
As usual, in this post, I will be summarizing the main contributions of the update while focusing more on the additions that happened this week. For more details on the individual additions, I refer to the weekly devlog posts.
In summary, we have 2 new quests, 5 new major illustrations of various types (character artwork for Ariadne, compendium icons, sexual service h-cg variations, kissing cutin, anal masturbation variation), 1 new dungeon area, and a bunch of other minor additions such as new skills, formulas and so on.
1) Highwarden Inner Bailey
The main addition of this update is the new main area dungeon together with the increase of the max main level area. Big picture, last update I implemented various corrupt options for Liora to overcome the main obstacle of the 0.1.0 version: The Demonized Warhound garding the entrance to this area. In this update, the main obstacle has now moved the mobs and minibosses of this area.
The area itself is part of a larger dungeon section that connects to the other side areas, though there are still many stub areas of this larger dungeon construct that will be filled out over the next updates.
The dungeon also brings a mechanism that forces Rean out of the party once his resistance to the miasma hits 0 - changes to trigger the effects of Edgar's Horny mood.
2) Side Quests
I have added two side quests in this update - Clinical Trials and Scam Records. The first is a simple quest that follows the spirit of the Alchemical Experiments quest but this time focusing on a potion type items that Rean needs to consume. The quest also brings the second trigger condition for Rean to leave the party.
Scam Records on the other hand is a sneak quest that is mostly for the people who want to see Edgar fail and damage his prestige - although acting against him in this quest can also serve a roleplaying purpose for those want Edgar to become more active. Crossing him in this quest makes his cunning mood trigger more easily.
Together with the Farm Defense quest from last update, it should be possible to largely void Edgar's prestige gains from dungeon clears, should one desire to do so.
3) H-Content & Other Artwork
While the update doesn't bring new major h-events, it has quite a few new submodules and variations: You can now pick Titjob as an option for sexual service, have liora masturbate anally instead of vaginally and officially seal each contract with a kiss.
In addition to that, we also have two supporting illustrations; one for Ariadne who has received her own character sprite and another for the compendium where the placeholder images of Liora's body parts have been replaced with proper illustrations. Just like in Aura, reach higher sensitvity thresholds and the images will advance according to Liora's corruption.
Gameplay-wise, there has been one larger balancing change: I found it too easy to get into the state where Edgar can cause Liora to reach orgasm. I therefore added the rule that in the case of a lewd action with Edgar, Liora's willpower is added to her Orgasm Threshold. This way Rean has the edge initially while Willpower is high but loses it as it goes down from increasing Arousal.
3) General Gameplay
We also have quite a lot of new minor gameplay additions in various areas.
As mentioned above, I added quite a few new formulas and skills to the game that get unlocked over the range of Town Prosperities 15 - 17. Overall, while the density of story events and side quest content is a bit low, the game should have enough contract and rpg content to support 80+ days of ingame play time now.
Since we can reach a fairly high day count, we can now get in a state where the Treatment prices become quite expensive - causing lower valued clauses to never again appear during Treatment negotiations.
In order to tackle that issue, and also to generally add an extra level of pressure to those trying to withstand Edgar's influence, a new Treatment Day will be unlocked after Rean's 10th treatment - a supporting Treatment Day. In contrast to the main Treatment Day this one starts at only 200 Gold cost and increases by just 100 Gold per week. This way lower and mid valued proposals can reappear on the treatment negotiation on this day and in the case of mid valued proposals stay relevant to the end game.
On the subject of negotiations, dates have been updated to always trigger Edgar bringing up a negotiation, so triggering an Edgar date clause is no longer a completely lost day.
Battle negotiations have also been updated to support more state triggers (you need to unlock them first by either being hit with them or reading the Common States book).
Finally, I have used the opportunity that the game now supports content until 80+ days to review the values of various clauses. I felt that quite a lot of clauses had too much value, which in return cheapened the value of the lower valued clauses. I have reduced the value of various clauses both on the Edgar proposal side but also on the Liora proposal side. Getting Edgar to chuck bombs at an opponent or at rocks is now easier, but on the other hand, the amount of gold you get from Edgar for agreeing to lewd clauses isn't as obscene as it was before (you still get a lot though).
Various cheap clauses on the other hand (such as clauses triggered by on defeat) had their value raised to kind of bring everything just a bit closer together. I have only playtested the early game with the new balancing but I felt like everything fits together better now as there many more pairs of trades that are now valid or just generally feel better due to closer value numbers.
