To begin with the summary: Lots of shit. :'D This update marks the end of Part 2 / 5 of the development for Liora and comes with major new milestones and additions on a lot fronts. As ususal, for the details, I refer to the weekly devlogs and focus here more on the overall summary.
In numbers we have 2 new H-CGs, 1 new major H-CG variations, 1 minor H-CG variation, 1 new quest, about 10k new words of story content, start of voice acting additions + moaning, 4 new impactful clauses (+new options for existing ones), 2 new areas, and a bunch of small stuff like new passives and skills.
1) Lewd Content and Sex Milestone
Probably the most anticipated feature of this update is that we have finished working our way up from sexual harrassment to the first sex scene. While we don't have a lot of new clauses in this update, the ones we do have are quite impactful for triggering these scenes. In general expect the raw number of clauses to not increase as much as it did in the early updates, as we will in the future divide our attention for h-scenes between contract triggered ones (like now) and lewdness/sexual frustration triggered ones to advance Liora's corruption. Which basically will be the main goal of Part 3.
Besides the sex milestone, we also have a new variation to the date event (fingering variation), Ariadne's training events are now illustrated and sexual service for Edgar includes giving blowjobs. We sadly are a bit behind schedule so the Ariadne Training doesn't have a Blowjob option yet.
I have also generally reworked a lot of the mathematics behind the sex mechanics. Orgasms will give 10% to Sensitvity based pleasure generation for the rest of the day (stacking) so previous lewd scenes in the day matter (as long as Liora reaches Orgasm) and impact later lewd scenes. The newly added passives and balancing changes to existing passives serve to improve the progression to give milestones that raise how much Liora enjoys sex with Edgar / decrease her enjoyment for sex with Rean.
Finally, fulfill the sex trigger clause and go on a date with Rean to get the entire date interrupted!
2) Story and Quests
On the quest front we don't have too much report for this update. Just a minor quest developed by our assistant developer Trihan to have some more ways to negotiate with Edgar so that he can raise Town Prosperity.
On the story front, we have probably the largest update since the 0.1 release. Meet Edgars brothers, get new story variations when going on a date with Edgar, even Rean's date got a new story event. I won't write too much about the new story content though and leave it for yourself to explore.
3) New Dungeon Areas and Gameplay Content
2 / 3 Side Areas have received their second (and last) stage. New bosses, encounters loot and obstacles to overcome where Edgar can provide help. Edgar himself has already new tools in his arsenal to help you tackle the dungeons! His new Enchant: Body spell and Enchant: Clothing II require him to rack up some levels but give him more high level progression to keep up with the player's power level increase - and share it with the party members for a high price.
The dungeons also have minor changes as they level. New rocks and plants will appear at times to make your life harder, some of the Hornets in Brightwood will become a bit more dangerous, slimes awaken to new powers and the Armored Rat Swarm can learn to repair itself.
I have also investigated the analytics data over the past month and noticed that player progression is a bit faster than expected. I have rebalanced the EXP curves quite a bit in response: Leveling Rean and Liora will now be slower at higher levels (10+). Edgar on the hand had his Rogue's Eye EXP gain passive massively buffer from +25% to +100% so he levels roughly at the same pace as before.
The trainers in Thornefield now teach new spells and martials on levels 20, 21 and 25. Some of them carried over from SKA, some of them new. 25 is also where Rank II spells are unlocked, especially Fire II. I originally wanted to add those in the next update but it proved more suitable to add them this week so level 2 plants properly work in this update.
4) Technical Work, Voice Acting, Translations and more
Besides new content we also have a lot of technical progress. The most important one being the addition of voice acting. We had a rigorous progress for selecting a fitting voice actress for Liora (Allure) and she has done some great work to get us started.
Note that while the Edgar event technically has voice acting, it's based on a setup and technical setup that was used for the application test commision. We have iterated upon this during this month. We will bring it to the same sound level quality as the intro in March, alongside voicing various lines I had cut out from the test commission.
On the quality of life things: You can now view Edgar's inventory in the dungeon by using his new View Inventory skill and contracts in the contract menu can now be filtered by their icon category to make it easier to keep an overview.
We have also progressed our work on improving the technical backend. Weaker devices should experience less frame drops during some of the UIs which were suboptimally implemented. Furthermore we have fixed a lot of bugs that were still in our translation engine. By the way, we also have two amazing new community translators Hongbao and Switch who have translated the game to Chinese!
