Returning to shorter updates again as we enter the last stretch of the series! Mostly because I don't like making you wait so long between updates, so I'll try to find good places to separate scenes into smaller batches, so I can post more frequently.
As you can probably guess, the 3rd page was what caused these few pages to take so long again 😆 Once again it wasn't necessarily an issue of "this took so long to draw", but it took me a long time to decide on how exactly I wanted that place to look, so I spent a lot of time tweaking things, or just staring at it for extended periods of time.
By the way we're fully entering the territory now where I would recommend re-reading from the beginning and paying close attention to smaller details that pop up here and there, because a lot of stuff from early on is coming back into focus now.
As I get closer to the finale of Shallow Sleep I'm also already planning on going back to previous chapters to make some edits and adjustments, because I think I can do a much better job now at bringing everything together in a more cohesive way, and less visually cluttered/unclear. So hopefully when the entire project is finished end edited, it will be enjoyable for everyone to re-read the whole thing as one full comic instead of bite-sized pieces like this.
In a way, all the gemlins on Patreon are getting a very special version of this story, still kinda rough around the edges here and there, occasionally a bit of an experiment to see what works and what doesn't. The final edited version will be up on Patreon too in the future, of course, so you'll have access to both versions at your leisure. Thank you so much for joining me on these storytelling adventures and being so patient with me while I learn on how to best show you what the silly little guys are up to in my head.
Shallow Sleep still has 2.5 chapters + an epilogue to go, so we're not quite at the finish line yet, but I can kind of already see it in the distance, so I'm feeling a little bit nostalgic in advance 😂 Bringing Shallow Sleep to life has been, and is still a very strange sensation with hurdles I didn't anticipate, but I'll reserve a full review of that for when I am actually done with the comic.
ANYWAY, I dunno what got me into this ramble-y mood today. I hope you enjoy these pages! Next ones will hopefully be up soon, 4 pages are inked, and I'll start colouring them in a bit :)
