Hello my gemlins!!!
I'm so sorry for the long radio silence π I've been thinking about Patreon a lot but always felt like I didn't really have anything to show and felt a great bit of anxiety every time I even considered opening the website, because numbers are scary. But I figured tonight is a good night to finally rip the band-aid off and post an update again.
I've been making steady progress with Shallow Sleep and I hope you enjoy seeing this little preview of what's to come :'3 (I kept the bonus Jonathan Sims doodle that I drew on stream today, because I think he looks very cute, LOL)
I'm still not entirely sure how long chapter 10 is going to be, I'm currently 23 pages in and there's still a good chunk of the script left that I need to draw. I've spent a lot of time just thinking about how to draw certain things, I've rewritten dialogue like 5 times, and it's all taking longer than I would like but I believe the end result is going to be worth it π
I will also do my best to post WIPs more often again, in hopes that people are a bit interested in them ;;; Again, I'm sorry for ghosting Patreon so much.
I've been very active in our little Discord server that you're all welcome to join (just make sure you have your Patreon + Discord accounts connected, or shoot me a DM if you'd like to join and I'll send you a link!). I've also been streaming on Twitch very regularly for the past 9 months or so; I'm live roughly 3-4 times a week, we're currently playing the Outer Wilds DLC and Silksong, and every Wednesday I do an art stream and work on some comic pages (or sometimes other things if I need a little break). There are really wonderful people in chat at all times and it's also probably the easiest way to get a hold of me if you ever wanna ask something or talk about something, and I'd be happy to have you!!
I also started posting edited VODs to Youtube, for those who join the community in the future and might want to catch up or for people who don't really like watching streams but would still like to see some of the playthroughs. I'm slowly working my way thru editing Outer Wilds and Silksong.
For those of you who have been around for a few years it's probably not a surprise that I've been streaming again, since I've been doing that semi-regularly on and off since 2017. I feel like this year I've really been hitting my stride and found a schedule that works and is fun for me and also for the audience, so it's been a great time and I always love talking to everyone π
Aside from that, not much has been going on on my end recently π I've just been working on Shallow Sleep every day, sadly had to take a few more breaks than I'm comfortable with because I fucked up my eyes a bit with working too much and too late all the time :( My eyes started burning and watering a lot and whenever they'd water it would feel like my tears were made of literal acid, it was really unpleasant. I have some eyedrops to help with that now and hopefully restore the broken layer on my retinas and my pharmacist told me in no uncertain terms that I need to get better at not working until 3am every night... so I've been trying to not do that all the time, to varying degrees of success.
Avoiding screens a bit has brought me back to reading books again, tho!! Which has been wonderful. I'm currently reading the Southern Reach Trilogy! I absorbed Annihilation in record time because it was just SO GOOD, Authority was pretty good too, but more difficult to get thru and now I'm in the middle of Acceptance and will hopefully finish that soon.
I also started listening to The Magnus Archives on my many daily walks with Fynni (who's still doing really well and is as cute as ever btw π), and with it I have found a new hyperfixation that keeps me alive and happy π I'm listening to the whole thing for a second time right now and ohmygod you guys, it's so good. If you enjoy a good horror podcast that has not only really good and varied creepy stories, but also an incredibly insanely good overarching plot, wonderfully written (AND OFTEN QUEER!!!!!!!!!) characters and super talented voice actors (I would eat Jonatahn Sims' voice if I could), then I cannot recommend this podcast highly enough. It's become one of my favourite things of all time SO FAST. I've started making.... fanart for it, too πππ¦ Maybe I'll share some of it soon, if only to spread the gospel, because I need more people to listen to it.
That's pretty much everything I have to say for now! It's 1am, I just finished inking this current patch of pages, will send some of those pages to my assistant tomorrow (I don't remember if I ever mentioned that I'm getting some help with flat colours now because I simply cannot do this all by myself anymore) and then get back to sketching the next pages. But for now I'll allow myself an hour or so of just hanging out, before it's time to go to bed.
