She bolted from the room and toward the only person she could think of. Someone who didn’t look at her like she was fragile. Someone who wasn’t afraid of her. Someone who sometimes understood her better than even her own friends.
This episode had so many panels that took ages to draw! The page with the classroom alone took me about 15 hours 😭 Sometimes episodes are so unpredictable. I have episodes that don't take me long at all, but then there are episodes like this that take forever.
I wish I could figure out a way to be a bit more consistent, but sadly there is nothing to do about it. I've found that the more characters are in an episode, the longer they take me. So the scene with the whole classroom was for sure the culprit here, haha.
That being said, I do absolutely love this page! I never expected so many people to send in their lovely original Winx characters for me to use for the background. I just couldn't decide which ones to choose and tried to fit as many as I could in this episode. It really helped with making the environment feel more alive 🥹
I can't wait for when another opportunity arises to use more of your lovely characters!
I'm working on a way where everyone can send them in so I can't lose them. Previously people simply reached out in DMs on Instagram, and in the end I lost so many designs😭 So, next time I want to do it properly!
I got this idea from Chocolatesmoothieart; she said she uses people's Winx OCs for the background as well! I did take it a step further by having people send them to me personally, though.
It was so lovely to draw all these wonderful creations, and I hope when people spot them in the webtoon, they'll be pleasantly surprised by how they turned out 🥹
As some of you might have already seen, I used quite a lot of 3D models during this episode; I highly recommend using those if you struggle with full-body artworks. To this day, it is so hard for me to get proportions right when legs are attached haha. I'm okay when it's just the upper body, but legs are so tricky for some reason!
It also speeds up the process a lot; I'm very happy I decided to implement them in my workflow more. It also saves time from having to look up a million references each time. Sometimes finding the right reference is impossible even, so please use 3D models when you can :)
Some weird people say it's "cheating", but that is the most ridiculous statement I've ever heard. 3D models are a tool all great artists use! They don't magically make you good at drawing, sadly, haha. I'm currently following a course by Yejji, and she also uses a lot of 3D assets in her work to save on time!
