Hello all!
Next month will mark our 9 year anniversary on patreon and that's got me feeling a bit introspective, looking back on some my past work. Thought not terribly old (2023), I've always had a bit of affection for Grounds of the Southern Temple (the last image in the preview set above) and despite having had the intention of expanding on its theme, never returned to the location.
Today that changes!
Postern of the Southern Temple is a return to those ruined temple grounds (heavily inspired by Tunic at the time, if you're interested) and a revitalization of an older map. Located nearby, you'll notice a similar degree of disarray about as plant life has quite fundamentally taken over, though with more of a larger interior accessible. A massive wall relief of a stylized humanoid face dominates the interior wall, with rough stairs leading even further below...
As a part of this new map I did return to the original Grounds of the Southern Temple do some light 'updating' of the scene. This primarily involved some color correction, swapping out of textures, and replacing of the trees, all with the intent of bringing it into closer alignment with the newer Postern map.
The new map comes with a couple of fun variations--as you'll see in the preview images--including an 'encampment' variant of the night palette, as well as a more spooky 'portal' variant that places a greater visual emphasis on the subterranean entrance through the mouth.
