As you may have read in my post last week, this month marks our 9th year on patreon! To mark the occasion I'm conducting our annual Patron Survey, opening up asset requests for the month, and inviting public participation in the Community Map Prompt. Please visit this post to learn more.
Participants in the survey in particular will get to weigh in on meaningful topics like what direction our 5E content will be taking, what asset themes will receive more attention this year, and how to structure core sections of the patreon itself. They'll also be sent a new battle map from me as a thank you!
I make note of that because the Wood of the Novus Blade you see here was born of that retrospective timing. Those of you who have been here a bit longer will recall that I used to release a different type of map post I called "collections"--themed sets of nine 17x22 square maps that also fit seamlessly together to form one 'mega map'.
The last of these had been released over 3 years ago and I felt inclined to revisit the practice on our 9th anniversary. Likewise, the very first map collection was our Forest theme which is nearly 6 years old and in my opinion has been long overdue for a update.
Thus the Wood of the Novus Blade was born! A map that splits up into 9 parts, each of which houses its own fabled sword, nestled equally in arcana and trope. I wanted to create something that both provided a well-earned update to the forest theme as well as deliver potentially unique story-telling opportunities via these blades.
Naturally, there are also 'unfurnished' variants of the entire location devoid of any sword-elements. This of course means you'll be receiving a whole slew of setting-agnostic forest maps, but also means that you can use the 'complete' unfurnished map and drop in your sword-furnished map of choice should you believe that 9 blades may be a bit over-the-top (spoiler: it is).
