Yes, I know it's June.Ahem!
I have some changes to announce, though, otherwise, the original plan is still on track. I am currently deep into coding the oak tree path. There are a lot of changes from the original quest version for this part of the story. These changes will be aimed at trimming out excess scenes and reduce the amount of exposition cramming that happened in the original, a problem I've been known to have with story telling.Don't want to give away too much, but I'm sure some people have seen the previews on the discord and have an idea what's coming. Annalise and Roxanne will be the primarily featured characters for this story section along with some new mechanics and smaller NPCs and creatures. After this is done, I'm going to shift my focus entirely. There are too many things that I glossed over on my way to getting to this point and I think going back and cleaning up some messy story points is in order. Hard to say right now, but this may mean that at some point, alpha 3.x won't be able to guarantee version parity going forward, though I have some idea on how to adjust for this. Basically, I want to go back to the point in the story between the intro and finding Sanctuary and add more scenes, including adding story beats for Tina, Rene, and Teresa, specifically.I've also drawn up some new plans to essentially draw back Sip and Bianca's planned roles as main characters. This means they will be less story-driven and act more like patrons with schedules, random encounters, and the such. Part of the reason was because they were integral to the plot but in recent rewrites I've been drawing up over the last couple weeks, that's going to change. I'm essentially trying to trim back the number of main characters. The story is getting a bit crowded with one-off characters that don't offer much to the plot. That being said, while I'm being intentionally vague about the story, I'm very happy with this recent rewrite and feel confident it is the right direction for the game. So, that's it. I'd like to be done with the Oak Tree stuff by the end of June and on to new stuff in July. You can expect a dev-build by the end of the month, sooner if I move my ass. Thanks!
