Hello everyone, welcome to the 138th progress report!
Hi bros and gentleladies :)
Much has been done during the previous progress cycle. One obvious achievement was the wallpaper that's been shared publicly on the Discord server (and on Twitter), and it's been widely enjoyed, which I'm very happy about. It took several days to make, not just because of the tricky composition or complex posing, although those did take a little time to get right, but because I learned many new things just to make that wallpaper.
The wallpaper
I started with making the donut using Blender Guru's latest donut tutorial. I can already use Blender of course, and that tutorial did turn out to be a little too basic for me, but I still learned a few things that I could use in the future, so it wasn't all for nothing.
Then there was using rigidbody to simulate the donuts falling into the bowl to form a realistic-looking pile. That wasn't as straightforward as I had hoped because of some jitter inside the bowl, and some minor collision issues. I did have to manually adjust the result in the end, but I'm still glad I tried it.
Then there was using cloth simulation on Alice's hair, which was mostly a performance issue. Her hair is very detailed, and generating a single simulation frame would have taken way too long (I stopped trying after 30 minutes of waiting) for that workflow to be viable. I need about 30 frames of simulation to get a proper result, and since the cloth simulation uses the CPU, my PC would have been completely unusable during it. I found a workflow that drastically speeds things up in the end which I'm very happy about, because I wouldn't have been able to simulate Alice's hair inside Blender otherwise.
And then of course came the question of the fluid simulation for Alice's cum, which didn't take that much effort thanks to some past experience I have with it, and some performance optimizations it received in a recent Blender update. I don't fully like how it turned out visually, but I have a few leads about how to make it look nicer, and I'll try those in the future.
Event renders
The after spending several days on a single render, as productive and fruitful as it was, I decided it was time to get a move on. I opened DAZ and got to work on the events from my dialogue file in order, beginning with a school-related story event, which is about Alice trying to convince her Mom to accept a job as a theatre teacher.
It's a couple of events, one small and one larger, and I'm in the middle of working on the second one as I'm writing this. It's about Alice and Angelina watching one of Angelina's movies together, so the work on this has really two stages: making the renders of the movie they're watching, and then making the renders of the actual event. I'm just about done with the movie renders.
Extra folder
Now, those movie renders won't appear as-is in the game, they'll just be displayed on the TV as Alice and Angelina are watching, which means you guys won't get to appreciate those renders completely as they are. Same thing came up recently with Elemental Instinct's movie poster, the movie Alice and Angelina will be watching, only appearing on an ad screen in a render during one of Stanley's calls. I'm beginning to think it's a shame that those extra stuff can't be enjoyed fully because they don't really have a place in the game for whatever reason. So I decided that I'd make an "extra" repository/folder where I'd put all those things inside. Full disclosure I'll also be limiting it to investor subs. Mostly because it's kinda niche stuff that would only be enjoyed by people who are really interested in the game anyway... And also because those guys who are giving me the big bucks do deserve to get at least a little extra stuff every one in a while ^^
Bye bye :)
Anyway, that's about it for me. I'll keep working hard to get the events done in a timely manner. This was one rather large progress report, so I cut this one into sections. It is now time to say bye bye though, so I'm titling this particular section "Bye bye". Bye bye!
