Hello everyone, welcome to the 139th progress report!
A whole lot was accomplished during the last progress cycle.First, the previously mentionned event which required movie renders was fully rendered and implemented, code, renders, portraits and all. What I did in previous versions was work on the dialogue all in one go, then the renders also all in one go, and then implement all the events in code, all in one go as well. The problem with implementing events is that it's a very tedious process. You basically have to go through each line of dialogue (more than a couple thousands), and give them a keyword which would be a character portrait attached to it. With the events logic to implement on top of that, the questlines... It's a lot to process in one go, which can make writing the code longer than necessary. So during the making of 0.6, I'll be implementing the events in code one by one, right when I'm done making the renders. This seems like a small change, but I'm positive this will save a lot of time in the end.
So anyway, I got to play that event through, and I think it's a great event :)
I was a little worried about how to render it, but I think it turned out even better than I imagined. Angelina's bathrobe being a couple sizes too small does help the matter, I have to admit.
Anyway, on top of rendering and implementing that event, I dived back into the general code and the flow of events, just to familiarize myself with it again. I accomplished a couple of very small programming tasks, like preparing the dialogue menus for the com station, and wrote a few quests as per my notes. I also wrote a whole new scene as I felt Angelina's quest was going a tad too quick, which even adds an extra scene for that new character I added (Dhomas), and it's turned out very nice, I think. Lastly, I edited the text for the new version of MDS (the event where Alice notices everyone is feeling low in the morning), because I'm going to be working on the art for that next. By the way, this one has a masturbation scene, so if things go well you might get a moving render as a bonus next time :).
Anyway, that's pretty much it for me today. Things are going quite well, and I expect things to continue in that direction now that I'm coasting through the art. Have a good Sunday. :)
