[All Patrons] Neverending Dungeon 2 - The Gloamforges (Levels 4 and 5) - Complete (Updated March 13th)
The Neverending Dungeon is a living megadungeon that grows deeper every week. Every new paid patron adds one new room to the dungeon, and fresh chambers are released every Friday as it expands layer by layer into the dark.
Update: All Areas Added and Updated
The Neverending Dungeon has stood in brooding silence for longer than memory, its threshold yawning like the grave of a god. Those who have entered seeking plunder or renown have not returned, and the few broken souls who staggered back spoke only in fragments—of corridors that shift, of traps devised with hateful genius, of presences that watch without breath or mercy. Some claim it was wrought as a proving ground for tyrants; others that it is the scar left by a ritual too vast to contain. Whatever its origin, it does not forgive error, nor does it reward hesitation. Now you stand before its lightless descent, drawn by greed, pride, desperation, or fate. Know this: the dungeon is deeper than reason, wider than fear, and it has no end—only consequences.
The Gloamforges
Beyond the blood-slick commons and the shattered altars of Bael, deeper still than the mess halls and wine vaults, lie the Gloamforges—where Khuldraz-Thane first bent knee to the Unseen King. Here, the stone remembers.
Once, these were the heart-fires of the citadel: vast smithing halls where anvils rang like war drums and crucibles glowed white with mountain-heat. When Bael’s favor seeped into the lower vaults, it was here that devotion turned to damnation. Invisible priests walked between the furnaces. Steel was quenched in blood. Doors opened where none had been carved.
Now the forges burn with a dim, sullen light—braziers fed not by coal, but by slow, smokeless flame drawn from cracks in the stone.
Two peoples war here.
The Dourthane Remnant
A stubborn duergar clan descended from those who resisted Bael’s final rites, the Dourthane Remant hold the level directly below the Gloamforges, known as Grimdelve. They are few, soot-streaked and gaunt, surviving in abandoned ore tunnels and half-collapsed barracks. They strike upward in sabotage and vanish before reprisal. Their elders claim that if the great central forge is extinguished, Bael’s hold on Khuldraz-Thane will finally break.
Ashen Covenant
Above the Dourthane Remnant dominate the Ashen Covenant, duergar who would not die. Their flesh is gray and cracked like kiln-fired clay; their eyes burn with ember-light. Bound by oath and curse, they rise again even after slaughter unless sanctified. They serve a towering demonic priest known as Vhalzareth, the Ascended Furnace—once a duergar high cleric, now transformed into a barlgura of cinder-black muscle and molten-veined flesh. He does not see himself as warped or fallen, but perfected—freed from the smallness of dwarf-form and remade in Bael’s truest image of dominion.
