So one big thing I'm building to this year is making a "fake Blockbuster" at conventions to sell the faux VHS box copies of my adventures. Looking at VHS' at video stores in the late 80s/early 90s is a core memory that I hope to share with others.
The regular books—namely rulebooks and Neverending Dungeon stuff—I'm doing, I want to make them look like magazines on a rack.
We already know Horror looks like Fangoria magazine and my own 5e Rulebook will look like Heavy Metal. Badge Quest, as it's getting done, will resemble Choose Your Own Adventures.
But how do I present Neverending Dungeon?
I have two core ideas:
1) Because I use Tim Hartin's maps, the grids have a very "crossword puzzle" look to them. I kinda want to make them look like those cheesy Crossword Puzzle books that you see in airports and drug stores, the type that you keep on the back of a toilet. The interior will still be typical DND, but the cover itself will match the "magazine rack" aesthetic.
2) Alternatively, I can go for the typical 'HIGH FANTASY!' imagery of Fifth Edition/modern RPGs, and just give it cool art with a splashy logo or make it look like the old Dragon magazines of the period.
