I sent these to Jay when we were brainstorming the animatic :D
the first image are some sketches of Penelope when I was trying to get Anna's face right
the second and third are some concepts for how the flashes of Penelope waiting would look like. I experimented with a watercolor kind of vibe (very inspired by Arcane as you can tell), but it didn't feel really sad. Plus I wanted some more definition to these drawings so it would be easy to see them as they flash on the screen really quickly.
So I went with a charcoal aesthetic for those. It clashed better with the colored animation and had the right amount of contrast so you can tell what's going on by just quick flashes. Plus the black and white lighting fit the mood I was going for way better :D
