I was given kind permission to post an in-progress shot of a commission I'm working on currently. Enkeli, an ocelot, having a frank discussion with her helper 'bot 'RKY' on the correct tool for the job.
This is a bit of a first for me. I'm new to drawing technical things, but I really wanted to try this shot out after being given the idea for it. I actually had to set up 'boxes' in a scene to represent various items (trucks, crate, etc) and to get the heights right, especially since the angle is lower and looking up at the pair.The loader was easy enough, as there are loads of pictures of those things, based on the loader from Aliens. RKY, however, was a bit of a challenge. I had to pour through tons of robotics images to get a general feel for what I wanted, then set up a 'box' (which RKY partially is anyway!) with leggies sticking out of it, then try to get all of them to play nice with each other.
I liked the end result, even if the 'box scene' looks a little ridiculous with the other layers turned off. It's like a Star Wars green-screen party.
I should have the next few pages of comic to post, as well as colours of 'Spring Planning' flatted out this month. Lots of work, but it's the first time in a long while that I could sit for stretches at a time and work without some joint, nerve, or medical thing snapping me in half.
So far, so good.
