I read "Monstergott" by Caroline Schmitt earlier this year. It's about the struggles of two grownup siblings with their faith and church. They both grew up in a free church, so did I. I raced through this book in two days, it was crazy. I found myself so much in it, how the church system works, the social pressure, the desire to be a good person, and also the struggles that come with it.
So I came up with some characters for my own "free church" story, hah.
Timo (smiley face) is in his 20s and super enthusiastic. He's a member of the church's band. He is active in youth work. He's a kindergarten teacher.
Aaron (bigger bearded guy) is in his late 30s, has a wife and kid. He's part of the leadership. He's very calm and reliable.
Timo and Aaron share dark events from their past.
There is also supposed to be a younger boy, but I haven't manage to integrate him into it yet. The idea was about (generational) repeating cycles.
