Dear fans,
Some characters simply never grow old, and Major Motoko Kusanagi is definitely one of them. The protagonist of the Ghost in the Shell franchise, which began with Masamune Shirow's manga in 1989, she has appeared in countless incarnations: from the original manga to Mamoru Oshii's seminal 1995 film and its sequel Innocence, the Stand Alone Complex and Stand Alone Complex: 2nd GIG TV series, Arise, and many other manga, novels, OVAs, and adaptations.
Now, with the brand-new The Ghost in the Shell anime introducing a fresh take on Shirow's cyberpunk masterpiece (and, rather ironically, the closest adaptation to the original manga ever made, even preserving much of its goofiness and sense of humor), it felt like the perfect time to pay tribute to one of the most iconic heroines in anime history.
Strong, intelligent, and endlessly fascinating, Motoko has captivated audiences for decades in every one of her incarnations, and she'll probably continue to do so for many more.
As always, for our beloved Patrons, here's the full size and high resolution artworks, along with a couple of exclusive variants, "Birthday Suit" and "Homage to the Boat Scene" (if you know, you know!).
Enjoy!
