There are animals that I suddenly feel compelled to draw, even though they weren't planned at all. Today, It is Sally lightfoot crab.

It's so exciting to see these crabs jumping and running! (And the eels are super cool, too.)
I imagined a colorful crab on a rock on the beach.
Baby crabs are dark in color for camouflage,
and as adults, they become vibrantly colored.
Crabs are one of the animals I draw most often. And I had a clear image in my head of how it would be completed. I colored this sketch directly without any cleanup or color thumbnail.
Even so, there are stages in between that require thought. At this stage, I spent some time thinking about how to draw the crab's eyes 👀
It was really fun to use all my favorite combinations of yellow, pink, and blue.
