[wip] Cookies and sea slug and isopod

Following the Seaslug I drew last time, here is an isopod.

I'll show you the snacks I ate while working on this 🤭

This is a snack that was released relatively recently in Korea. (I looked it up and it says it came out in 2023, but it’s my first time seeing it!) I always make it a point to try new snacks whenever they come out that I haven't eaten before, and luckily, there was a Cookie & Cream flavor! Unfortunately, it wasn't exactly my taste. However, it’s enough to capture the Cookie & Cream vibe 🎶

It seems most of the animals I will be drawing this time will be Porcellios.

Although I have drawn isopods many times before, I refined the character design a bit by doing some simple research before starting the drawing. Since cookie and isopods are a subject I have drawn once before, I wanted to draw a better art if I were to draw a similar subject again. Doing work that we are satisfied with is the most important thing ✌️

I like drawing isopods round like jelly beans, but Porcellio isopods have a somewhat flatter feel to them. Since I still prefer drawing them rounder than real animals, I think it would be nice to add a round isopod with a taller body for comparison. ( So I added Armadillo officinalis later )

I struggled with how to draw the elongated antenna.

I drew it shorter than the actual animal.

In the very final editing step, I brightened up the entire face of the isopod. I converting it to black and white in last step for check, and the face didn't stand out very well.

After the edit, the animal's eyes are a bit more visible.

Oh! And if you look closely, I also slightly reduced the brown saturation of the tart and cookies.

I tend to choose highly saturated colors, so I had to exercise restraint.

I thought I would be able to color faster since I used the same colors as for the Cookie Sea Slug, but it actually took longer. It's probably because the color combination wasn't familiar. Still, it was fun trying something new!

I worked on the isopods based on actual sizes to some extent. (It’s not 100% accurate; some were drawn larger.)

Consider the actual size of the isopod... it's about a 1-inch size cookie? anyway, it's probably a mini-sized snack.

This small, pointy isopod is really cute. It's so tiny, yet it has a funky name.

I'd like to draw more of them later.

Since the theme is food, it would be good to add recipe cards when creating the next printable content 😆
