DESCRIPTION

A new OS is updated once a year. Developers work on updating their applications to match the new OS. ( For Galaxy, the next update will likely be between July and October. )

Around this time, I update all my themes little by little. I replace some old images with new ones and make adjustments to readability.

Do you remember the Shrimp theme I created in 2018?

Since this theme was created a long time ago, there is no shrimp icon pack on Patreon 😅

So this time, I'll remake this shrimp icon :D

This is an icon I created in 2018.

When I first started making icons, I created transparent icons like this, focusing on lines. Some of you might actually prefer this simple/rougher look.

However, my style of drawing shrimp has changed now, and I plan to create icons that are more readable and clearly indicate what the app is about.

However, since changing it too much might confuse existing users, I plan to maintain the color tone to some extent!

I found a color palette I made in 2018 in my past work folder.

But I'm thinking of adding Blue Velvet Shrimp to it.

So, here is the color palette I made again. It isn't the final version, so I need to test it out first.

I roughly sketched out a Shy Shrimp. Then, I placed them on three different backgrounds. For the Galaxy theme, it is blue, I only need to worry about readability in the center.

However, on dark backgrounds, only the body is visible, so using black lines becomes a problem. I also prefer dark mode, and I know that many people like dark mode. If possible, I would like to make Dark Mode and Pastel Mode as well!

And this just complicates everything, lol.

It’s not easy.

It really isn’t easy...!

But the harder it is, the more exciting it is when we finally solve the problem.

Now, I’ll show you the detailed process of how it was developed!

Ta-da! I added outlines to the antenna and legs.

This completed intermediate sample is designed to look good against any background color. It stands out well even in black. The color palette has also been slightly modified from the original colors, and I will make one more adjustment here.

Ultimately, the color palette was moved to the bottom right. It remains vivid, but with a slightly more pastel feel.

I also tried adding different types of shrimp, though they may or may not be included. I want to work with as much restraint in color as possible, so it is highly likely that I won't draw it.

The icon sample work is nearly finished, but I will check the overall balance one last time. Even though the shrimp is the main character, since it is an icon, there needs to be an item that allows one to recognize what kind of icon it is!

So, I roughly drew an envelope.

I made comparison images like this and displayed them on my monitor. Then, I stare at them for a long time until I find a good answer. And the conclusion I reached is as follows.

Although not in the combination above! I choose pastel pink and sky blue for the envelope color. Red and yellow can be used as accents, but I thought I wanted to use them for the shrimp if possible.

Some sketches were created by referencing previous sketches to make them as similar as possible. This will make it less inconvenient for existing theme users to find icons after the update.

Additional sketch.

My Halloween shrimp characters made a special appearance.

I'm not sure if I'll ultimately draw them or not. I'm not sure if they'll fit in well with others. I only know for sure once I finish this. That's why I tend to do as many sketches as possible. As I draw, there are sketches that get deleted because I don't like them or they don't fit.

Here are six finished uppercase letter icons.

I’ve drawn the alphabet many times before, but I wanted to give them a slightly different, cute vibe, so I depicted them like ribbons.

Once finished, I think they will go well with the [wallpapers] Cherry blossom shrimp and isopod 🌸 I drew recently.

Making icon packs involves a lot of work - I tend to update them irregularly, usually once every 3 to 6 months. But shrimp are one of the animals I am most comfortable drawing, so the idea/sketching went faster than other ones 😇
