I've finished the shrimp icon! Here is the production process! (The icon is scheduled to be released sometime this month.)

Do you remember when I made the Bee icon, I tried creating 16 pieces on a single canvas using 4x4 grids?

This time, I tried working on 25 pieces at once using a 5x5 grid.

Drawing 25 at once was actually quite good.

There were pros and cons compared to working on 9~16 at a time...

The advantage was that since I was working while looking at multiple things at once, it was easier to balance things like color.

The disadvantage was that, personally, I felt it was more difficult than working on 16 at a time 😂 The total amount of work to be done is the same, though!

I think that's because I used to work on 9 in 5 batches or 16 in 3 batches, but now I work on 25 in 2 batches. It seems like I needed a lot of concentration at once because my break time was shortened! Of course, since I work alone, I can decide my own break times 😂 But because I have to set my own deadlines too, once I sit down, I set goals like, "Let's work until I clean up all the lines" or "Let's complete stage 1 coloring."

I think the maximum for working on one at a time is 25. I don't think I will attempt 36 on a 6x6 grid 😂

Next time, I will decide between 16 and 25 depending on my condition.

My Spooky shrimp—Halloween zombie shrimp (ghosts, fried shrimp, and sushi!)—also go quite well with this icon. It's probably because the characters I created have similar colors and vibes.

Then I think they would probably go well with other characters as well. I'd like to try making Axolotl kiki and Crabby crab someday. It would be fun to add some spooky icons during the Halloween season.

Pastel Shooting Star!

I used a green that wasn't on the color palette. To make it blend in as well as possible, I lowered the saturation to diminish its presence. It might have been better not to use green, but I really wanted to draw a moss ball. I really love seeing shrimp with moss balls.

I expressed the shrimp's poop in a speech bubble.

The remake of the icon from 8 years ago is complete!

Personally, perhaps because I invested more time, effort, and thought into it, I like this new version much better. And it was a very rewarding project because it reminded me of the mindset I had when I created the shrimp content back then. I had a sense of mission to show the cuteness of shrimp as animals, not just as food! 😆
