Lately, I've been having a lot of silly thoughts lately.
These are just doodles that come to mind. I'll show you in order!
[wip] Strawberry milk snake At the end of this post, I posted isopod's rough sketch with a strawberry hat. I wasn't going to finish this, but I suddenly wanted to draw it the next day 😂 The type of isopod is cubaris albino.
Originally, I wanted to draw Ardentiella (Merulanella). But since it's already red and colorful, I thought a white body isopod would be more suitable to make the strawberry hat stand out. Did you know there are white strawberry varieties? It would look just like a white strawberry wearing a pink strawberry hat.
I will draw Ardentiella someday! I thought it was Merulanella until now, but I just found out that the classification has changed. There is still so much to learn about isopods!
Cherry shrimps wearing a cherry hat
And as soon as I drew the isopod, two cherry shrimp wearing a cherry hat immediately popped into my head.
Oh, by the way, I’ve been trying out the Quip feature on Patreon lately!
I’m updating it on a trial basis because I thought it would be nice to casually upload intermediate steps or doodles like this.
But one thing. Currently, comments on Quip post don't come through to my email notifications. So, if you leave a comment on an old Quip, I might not see it. I try to reply 100% of the time, so if I don't reply, it’s not intentional! Please make sure to send important matters via Message.
Rock doves wearing a toast bread hat
I wanted to draw more animals wearing funny hats, but suddenly the mood shifted from crustaceans to birds. And then I suddenly started sketching random birds..
I’ve been thinking for a while that I’d like to draw birds of prey well. Since last year, I’ve also been following accounts that upload videos of birds of prey, and I do some doodling sometimes.
The pygmy falcon is one of the smallest birds of prey, and even as an adult, small and cute.
The photo of these baby birds and coin is quite famous, isn't it?
From below, I will show you the process and additional sketches!
This wasn't a drawing I had planned at all either; I drew it spontaneously. After drawing the rock dove, I was just planning to do a few simple sketches of small birds of prey.
But while the baby bird may famous, I think there are many people who don't know the adult bird, so I decided to draw them together.
I thought it would be cute if the baby bird imitated its mom and dad.
One baby tried to mimic its mother lifting her leg but fell backward.
The yellow feet stand out really well against the blue background.
I really like bright yellow feet like this, but the feet aren't that important in this picture. So I adjusted the colors a bit in the final step so the face would be more visible.
Although they are small and cute, I drew their feet large and sharp to show that they are birds of prey. Of course, birds' feet are naturally sharp. But usually in my art style, I draw them very small.
In the case of baby birds, I usually draw very small feet, but I drew quite a bit in this picture.
Afterwards, I uploaded it on various social media, and there were some people asking where the coins were 😂
So I gave the baby enough coins. Hm.... I'm not interested in drawing coins all of a sudden. So maybe I'll finish it or not.
And here is another additional doodles
Wolffish with a Ph.D.
The reason I drew this picture is...
I was writing something like, "Animals are truly wise. And at the same time, I really like it when I can't sense any intelligence in their eyes." (On Bsky) While doing so, I thought I should simply doodle to add to it. I thought of a wolf fish. It was one of the fish I loved looking at the face of the most when I was a child. And as I was drawing it, I suddenly realized that my way of thinking seemed very human-centric. A wolf fish is probably more diligent and smarter than me. I suddenly felt that I had been arrogant. And since I was currently doodling animals and hats, I added a suitable hat.
And then I started doodling again.
A bee shrimp wearing a Bumblebee hoodie.
A cubaris bumblebee wearing a Bumblebee hoodie.
Three ducks wearing a Bumblebee hoodie watching bee hoodie isopod.
In the past, when I did doodles like this, I used to just post the title and the drawing without any explanation... It feels a bit embarrassing to explain in detail how I came to draw a doodle like this 🙈
While drawing this, I thought about why I was so obsessed with hats, and I think I might have been influenced by the fact that I've been taking photos of plush wearing hats recently.
These are my plush hats, all of which were gifts from friends last year.
I didn't have dress-up dolls when I was young, so I have almost no memory of owning anything like this, but now...I have good friends.😎
I plan to make some of the drawings I made this time into wallpapers.
I will group similar ones together and update them later. Thank you!
