DESCRIPTION

Hello my patrons, I'm back with the Amiga 3000 that can't run Kickstart 2.04.

Part 1 just just went live and loads of people pointed out what a few Patrons have said here: that the slot/expansion riser needs to be installed for the Amiga 3000 to work.

Unfortunately during all my googling for this issue while making part 1 and 2, I never found anyone talking about this as solution. I guess the combination of search terms never let me to that, as I was looking for the symptom of the Amiga 3000 that works with Kickstart 1.4 and not with 2.04.

So in this video, I explore the permutations of what makes this computer work and what makes it crash. I was led astray by the computer working perfectly with the riser NOT installed with Kickstart 1.3 and Kickstart 1.4, even running software, playing games and booting the OS.

This problem only affects Kickstart 2.04 as it's something specific to that version.

So to help solve this, we created a brand new diagnostic ROM for the Amiga that shows everything that is happening while Kickstart loads. This allows me to see what it's getting stuck on.

I have already started Part 3 where I dissect all Kickstart versions to figure out exactly WHY Kickstart 2.04 crashes without the riser and 1.4/1.3 doesn't. Hint: It's a bullshit and dumb.

Let me know what you think, and thanks for all the support!
