4SAS4 Retest
DESCRIPTION

I want to take a moment to thank Chase Tactical for sending out 6 of the 4SAS4 plates. While I feel the plate is a dated design it can fit roles where otherwise users might be buying steel… I often ride the line of worst case and then some and that costs me chances in the industry to work with suppliers. Some plates are built to the “T” of the standard and no over building. As always my info should supplement your search for armor :)

I plan to do the following

drop 1 plate 2 times. Tear down plate and inspect damage to strike face if possible

Drop 1 plate 2 times with the drop face foam I acquired from a vendor. Shoot m2AP COM then 4-6 hits of 5.56

Shoot 2-3 plates COM with M2AP at spec

Shoot 2 plates with M2Ap from a 16” 308 to simulate an at range engagement

Shoot 1-2 plates with 5.56 threats with a backer until we see if a failure would occur past 10-15 rounds ? Should I drop one plate in a carrier kitted with 3 30rd mags ?

We will need to address in the video some important information that's being discussed about the inconsistencies of data presented on the 4SAS. One spec sheet said it was 06 threat rated, at 2,880 fps, but then mentions 04/05IR and that velocity spec was 2,850.
