It's been 15 long years since PlayStation has dealt with PR as bad as it's currently experiencing, all on the back of its surprise announcement that -- beginning in early 2028 -- new games will cease being sold on-disc. You don't exactly have to squint at the data to understand that physical purchasers are a vanishing minority of PlayStation's userbase, and indeed, Sony's decision to make this move indicates they felt comfortable doing it from a commercial point-of-view. Yet, to many, such a move comes off as callous, tone-deaf, and particularly cutting to a sizeable portion of the brand's long-time, loyal customers. It's quite the conundrum! To speak to me (Colin) about the craziness in great depth, I invited Tom from Moore's Law Is Dead and the Broken Silicon Podcast. Please join us at your leisure, and for the sunshine-disinclined, please forgive us for our Solar Boys chatter near the beginning. We can't help ourselves.
