Remember I told you that the only way to shoot here without crowds was to stay nearby overnight and wake up around 4–5 AM? We had to plan a whole mini-expedition just to catch this place empty. But I couldn’t let myself leave Iceland without this shoot — last time I ran out of time with Ira, and it stayed in my mind for months. So I’m incredibly happy I finally made it happen ✨
Shooting in places like this is extremely dangerous. These geyser fields and sulphur crusts can collapse at any moment — it’s genuinely life-threatening. We stayed as careful as possible, didn’t step into restricted or unstable zones, and kept a safe distance… but still, please don’t try to repeat anything like this. It’s one of those locations where people don’t fully realize the risks until it’s too late 🙈
For me, this series is important not even because of the pictures themselves, but because I’d been thinking about these geysers for so long. Finally standing there, feeling that heat and watching the earth breathe… it gave me the same feeling as when the cave shoot finally happened — a quiet relief inside, like I’ve closed a small inner circle.
