Weapon (Longbow), Rare (Requires Attunement)
A jagged bow humming with electrical power. You gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls made with this magic weapon. While attuned to this weapon, you are considered proficient with it.
If you load no ammunition in the weapon, it produces its own, automatically creating one piece of electric ammunition when you pull back the string. The ammunition created by the bow deals 2d6 lightning damage and vanishes the instant after it hits or misses a target.
This weapon has 6 charges and regains all charges when you finish a long rest.
Forking Bolt. You can spend any number of charges as an action to have a bolt of lighting strike a target of your choice you can see within this weapon’s range. A number of bolts then leap from that target to as many targets as the number of charges spent, each of which must be within 30 feet of the first target. A target can be a creature or an object and can be targeted by only one of the bolts. A target must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw (a creature or an object made of metal or wearing metal armor has disadvantage on the saving throw). The target takes 4d8 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Very Rare Variant. The DC of Forking Bolt is raised to 17, and any creature that fails its saving throw can’t take reactions until the start of its next turn.
None may outrun the spark; a lesson not soon forgotten.
