Armor (Shield), Rare (Requires Attunement)
A teardrop shield with grooves that sizzle with corrosive acid. While holding this Shield, you have a +1 bonus to Armor Class. This bonus is in addition to the Shield’s normal bonus to AC. While attuned to this shield, you are considered proficient with it.
Weeping Corrosion. You can use a bonus action to speak this magic shield’s command word, causing acid to seep from its surface for 10 minutes. For the duration, whenever a creature within 5 feet of you hits you with a melee attack, the attacker takes 2d6 acid damage as it is splashed with acid. Once you use this property, it can’t be used again until you finish a short or long rest.
Very Rare Variant. Whenever a creature within 5 feet of you hits you with a melee attack with a nonmagical weapon while the Weeping Corrosion property is active, the weapon takes a permanent and cumulative −1 penalty to damage rolls. If its penalty drops to −5, the weapon is destroyed.
