First, I want to say sorry for the slow updates. I have been having trouble with motivation, and writer's block. It's not burn out but rather that the current rough draft has problems that have caught up to me. The source of my lack of motivation and block is that every time I try to write something, my instincts tells me that the way the story is progressing does not work. The story is being pulled in too many directions, there are too many plot points with no ends, the story is just moving from point to point, and my instincts are telling me that it might be time to hang up on the rough draft.
To be honest I actually hate how I am writing the story for the reason above. It's really hard to find motivation when I don't like what I am doing. Don't get me wrong, I still love the setting, world, and characters; it's just how I wrote it that I hate.
Furthermore, the current rough draft is reaching a point where it's deviating too much and that means that the more I write for it the less useful it is for the rewrite, which furthers the spiral of problems.
It's time to start working on the second draft. I have the new prologue done, and the first book shouldn't have too many major rewrites, just more details to add, more POVs to flesh out characters, and generally making everything better.
Does this mean that I am done with the rough draft? I don't know. I may continue it, or I may not.
In addition to the rewrite I have also started on a new story that I will be working on at the same time I am doing the rewrite. It's not in the same universe, it's an HFY scifi story. The rewrite will not be on any schedule and will come out when its done. I want to do them right this time around without deadlines to worry about.
I should have the new prologue out soon, as well as the first few chapters of the new story.
