Happy MOOOOOOnday! Hope you're all doing well!

Day 7 of the May-rathon chalenge is done, and this one was for Gabo-sama!

The initial idea was to have Vernon handling his Executioner's ax, and have it be an action shot where he's slicing down on a pumpkin, but I wasn't really able to make a good composition without sacrificing a bunch of his features and details ( the idea being that a lot of action shots forgo on detail so that the motion really sells) So instead I opted for a pose where he's drawing back his weapon in preparation for a swing (more of a heroic pose), and left all of the movement up to some wind effects and leaves. In this way it still feels like there's a lot of motion in the piece, with the main focus and details still being highlighted on the Vernon. (He is the star after all ๐Ÿ˜Œ)

I was also given creative freedom on the ax, so I figured I'd go with something to match that raw, natural look that Vernon has. And with the natural elements of the handle, and rough looking ax head it gives it a more ancient, but powerful vibe. It was also a good way to bring some of the environmental elements of the piece, back into the character to tie everything together.

Also if you guys were wondering why the hands were immediately switched after the sketch, it's because they were placed improperly for holding the ax in that position (aiming to actually strike with it) ๐Ÿ˜‚ So I fixed it just before painting lol

Just wanted to thank Gabo-sama again for the opportunity to work on this guy! Had a lot of fun with this one, and hopefully we'll be able to do this again in the future! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™

Thanks and Enjoy!
