Our first storm arrived this week! We woke up to 6" of soft fluffy powder on the ground. We spent the morning playing in the snow, taking the dogs for a walk and enjoying our little slice of winter wonderland.
And then I realized we were supposed to run to town that day for supplies. It suddenly dawned on me that we are now at the mercy of the weather for the foreseeable future. Our quick "pop into town to pick up supplies to finish this project" mentality was going to need to shift or we were going to be in for a longgggg winter.
I'm a planner. I love spending my free time thinking over the next day, how I want it to look and then do whatever I can to make that happen. The problem is you can't plan the weather... That means I'm going to need to spend the next few weeks really adjust my expectations. I could spend our snowed in days frustrated, disappointed and stressed. Or I can enjoy them for what they are.
We have amazing neighbors who have offered us a warm place to sleep, dinner on the table and whatever else we may need. This isn't a life or death situation so instead of stressing I am just going to try and enjoy the ride! Our first real winter, building our dream home, on our little slice of heaven. I'm buying myself a set of snow shoes and if we can't work that day, I'm going to use it as an excuse to explore our property and have some fun!
The rest will be there for another day!
