DESCRIPTION

Hello everyone,

This week sure has been challenging for me. Let me start by saying that not a lot went according to plan.

On Tuesday I was set to receive my new desk, so I dismantled my whole setup. I took the PCs downstairs so I could dust them, add the 5090 in one of the rigs, and handle a bunch of other stuff.

In the end, I only received part of the desk. I got the standing feet, but not the countertop. I had to rebuild my old desk, install the new monitors on the old desk, and deal with a bunch of extra steps. That basically cost me my whole day. Computers did not render, and I did not really work on Tuesday. Add the frustration of dealing with customer service, and it was a difficult start.

On top of that, the libraries on my rig with the newly installed 5090 were messed up. It rendered three animations with the wrong morphs on a character. It is not that bad, I fixed it and I will have to re-render them, but it is still wasted time.

Also, my internet and NAS have been a pain all week. I think I finally managed to stabilize it, but since my scenes are saved on the NAS, it led to problems in the queues at times. That got me frustrated, cut into my work, and made me move really slowly.

And finally, my dumbass thought it would be a good idea to work a scene with 28 characters present. Because why the hell not, right? This one I did to myself, but still.

I felt pretty burnt out today. I worked just enough so I could finally finish this scene with the 28 characters and start the new week fresh. Knowing that this week I will receive the counter top of my desk and will have to do the same thing again is... frustrating to say the least, but oh well. There's worse in life.

On the bright side, the next scene I will tackle has very few characters, which will help my brain focus. Near the end, it almost felt like I was not putting as much effort into those render angles, expressions, and stuff like that.

After this little scene, I will finally attack the party. My goal for the first two days of this week is to create the small scene, find an outfit for everyone at the party, and rewrite some more script. I need a quick mental break from 3D. I also had some new ideas and I want to polish the dialogue some more. This party is very important story-wise, but more important because of the relationships with the LIs. That is the main focus of this party, and it has to be perfect, or at least perfect by my standards.

I have only written the first part of it for now, not even entirely, and it is good, but not enough. Once it is done, I will be more confident diving into the first part of this event. It is going to be organized like the Expo event of Episode 3 was. You decide what you want to do first, then see a bit of content, then again you decide who you talk to, and finally back to VN mode. Only this time, there are much more variations because of personalities, the choices you made, and the consequences. If you break some people’s hearts, you will feel it. Believe it. I like this kind of interaction with the game.

Anyway, let’s talk numbers.

Static renders: 1,674Animations: 71Story content: 27 scenes written (23,887 words)

I still got 165 extra renders since last week. I think it is pretty good based on how difficult working those scenes were, and everything that happened.

Also, I complained a lot, but I am very happy with both my new monitor setup and the 5090. I did not precisely calculate the difference in terms of productivity, but I would say it falls somewhere between the 1.5 and 1.7 range. It is insane how fast it renders. I am very happy, so much so I might consider getting another one. Bottlenecks do not really scare me anymore.

Anyway, as I needed a mental break with this scene, I made this render of Elsa and Samara, so I hope you will enjoy them.

It was a big update, but I guess it was needed. Anyway, back to work. In the meantime, I wish you guys a good one.
