Syllabus: Performance Tips

DESCRIPTION

This month will -- once again -- be a bit different! I'm going to cover a bunch of different aspects of performing magic. While these are important no matter what level you're at, it would have been overwhelming to include them too early on in the course.

If you're new, it's fine to watch this video. Just understand that you don't have to "master" or even incorporate all (or any!) of these tips as you get started. Just begin learning the sleight of hand and early tricks and perform them for friends and family. You'll encounter many roadblocks and develop some good (and bad) habits, and many of those topics will be covered in this month's chapter.

While some of these ideas come from my own experience as a performer, many of them have their roots in Darwin Ortiz's Strong Magic, Designing Miracles, and his Showing or Hiding Skill essay at the end of Scams and Fantasies with Cards. Some ideas are also from Ken Weber's Maximum Entertainment.

Since this is all theoretical, I've just split the tips up into a Part 1 and Part 2.

As always, there will be a members-only livestream at the end of the month where I'll answer your questions.
