More than something thematic, I'll admit this year I just made something completely self indulgent lol, this is probably one of the most cattered to myself men anyone could ever make hahah, his name is Ricardo! A bit stereotypical I suppose, but what can say? I'm just a total sucker for big tough guys that love tiny cutesy things.
Made a whole sketch page of him and also I animated one of the sketches, I couldn't decide how big to make him at first so I just settled with giving him a magic size changing weiner, I'll leave up to interpretation the logistics and rules of his powers hahah.
A lot of people asked what he is exactly, I never really bind myself down to rules on what a character should look like based on a species, I always have it as a sort of vague starting point, but if I had to pin it down I guess he's some kindof orc-ish monster/troll/creature, therein lies the origin of his magic abilities, I always like to sprinkle a bit of fairy magic into most of my characters.
I wasn't really planning on having this sketch page be an insight into my character designing process, but maybe that's something you guys would be interested in reading about more often? let me know!
