Dev Update #17: May 2026
DESCRIPTION

To start things off, we wanted to take a moment to talk about the recent customization release.

We’ve been absolutely loving the reactions so far. Seeing everyone jump in, play around with the new options, and share their profiles has been really fun to watch. It’s especially cool to see how differently people approach it, resulting in some very unique profile set-ups. It really feels like profiles have become yours now, which is exactly what we were hoping for.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, you can read more about it here. We’re really happy to see it land this well!

Why development has been moving so fast

Over the past months, development has been moving really fast. Much faster than usual, even for us.

We’ve seen some people start to assume that means 2.0 is right around the corner, so we wanted to give a bit more context on what’s been happening behind the scenes, and why things are about to change.

Back in October, Yishiru took extended time off from his day job. That allowed us to go all-in on Infinite Backlog for a while, and it shows in how much we've been able to ship since:

Play Records and settings got ported over (with tons improvements and extras)

The GOTY event

A brand new Year in Review feature

A fully rebuilt feedback system

Improved FFXIV port and a completely new WoW integration

And of course, the recent customization release

It’s been great, and we’ve been able to push 2.0 forward in a big way because of it. But of course, that situation wasn’t something we could sustain long-term, as we still have bills to pay and food to put on the table.

Yishiru has now started a new job, and as anyone who’s switched jobs knows, those first few months can be pretty intense. Learning new systems, new routines, new people—it takes a lot of energy. That means there’s naturally going to be less time (and especially less energy) left at the end of the day to work on Infinite Backlog.

Things will settle over time, and development will find its rhythm again, but it’s safe to expect progress to slow down quite a bit in the meantime. And even after that, we won't be able to match the pace you've seen this past half year—at least not until we’re able to grow the project further and increase the revenue it brings in.

Looking ahead

Our goal hasn’t changed in that regard. We’d love to get Infinite Backlog to a point where it can support us fully, so we can focus on it without needing day jobs. But for now, we’re back to balancing this alongside work and everything else that comes with it.

Because of that, we also want to ask for a bit of patience, especially when it comes to support and replies. We might not always be able to respond as quickly as you’re used to, but we’ll still be here and doing our best.

What’s new in 2.0 & what's next

The rest of the dev blog can be read on the site here, where we show off a few of the things we added alongside the customization options, as well as go into what we'll be working on next!
