With such an extensive dragon creator in the game, it wouldn't make sense to feature it just at the start of the game and then never again. Instead, it will be possible to engage with it mid-playthrough with unlockable parts and options through activities and deeds. But that also raises the question of how this can be achieved in a lore-friendly way, as dragons don't typically change appearance from one day to the next.I've written in previous posts about some work in progress lore, with one idea being that dragons originate from a primordial island located at the center of the world map where magical energies converge, similar to the magnetic field at the poles. This is what has shaped them into such diverse and formidable creatures over the eons. The same energies can be used to make sense of dragon customization, such as having dedicated dragon creator spots spread throughout the world where the field lines from the magical field converges on nodes of strong magical potency capable of warping the dragon. Alternatively, there could be no explanation for how this works - it's a game after all, we're allowed to pretend like nothing weird just happened when the dragon grew twice as long, changed horns and went from black to pink.
