For the past week, I started to work with Joseph Min. He started the Yu-Gi-Oh! VR demo, and I reached out to him because we have a common goal. Now, we're working together to combine our strengths.
I've been setting up the multiplayer and have a little matchmaking ready, but there's just such a messy codebase that I know will be a problem.
Before February 2018, I was working on a peer to peer system with no authoritative server. It was like Dueling Network, but that's a problem because through play-testing at events, the majority consensus is that automation and rule checking is a must-have!
If I've learned one thing from the past few months is that multiplayer code needs to be polished, or players will have a really bad time.
Down the line, we want to create something cross-platform, and it should work since Yu-Gi-Oh! AR was always cross-platform because it was built in Unity, but I still need some time to get a proper demo.
Our vision is to create an experience that really provides options and interaction. Between players within a world of its own.
We still aim to have a beta ready for May 2018.
Thanks!
