As some of you may remember, I am part of a group of artists that are making a collectable card game!! Shards of the Artisan!! (Sota) (You can try and find my designs, theres 4 of them hidden on the site.)
At the moment I have provided '8' designs for cards. The cast of Fins is heavily featured. Simon, Scylla and Charybdis are present, but today I wanna talk about my main card, which of course features Neris. :D
And boy.... My boy did not wanna comply... Below is a breakdown of all the versions I ended up considering.
Ver 1. While I definitely liked the idea behind ver 1., Looking back on it, it is very stiff. The face and body have some issues. So I chose to keep the best element in this picture, which are the whales and fish.
Ver 2. I love love love loved the colors in this one. It also stood out against many of the other cards because of how bright it is. Still, it looks somewhat rushed and even shortly after finishing this piece, I wasn't satisfied, as it did not represent what I can do as an artist. (Also, no whales...)
Last but not least.
Ver 3. The best of both worlds in my opinion. :D The card is quite a bit smaller than the piece is shown here, so there's a lot of extra space on the edges. Compositionwise, this one has my heart!!
